That was a BS celebration call on Reese. That one penalty gave PC their score.

Darn it Citty, stop sandbagging us! First McNeese did it vs Henderson, then Samford did it against Miles College and now El Cit is doing it.

Defense playing very flat. We need to be stuffing these guys. I want to see a knockout punch on the opening series of the second half.
Andre Roberts is having a great night so far, though.

El Cid has a chance at the conference or at least an at-large this season.

There are still some things that need to come together for our team for that to even be possible. We had some issues against Princeton, and tonight we had issues against PC. Our defense looked like it was much improved over last year's squad, but then tonight we allowed something like 200 yards on the ground. That is not going to win you many SoCon games. (I do think we game planned heavily against the pass, and PC came out running)
The offense is pretty darn good, but then we missed two PATs tonight which is a nightmare flashback to last year. Last week the offense was flat. Our placekicking up until tonight had been stellar. I'm hoping that we just played down to PC on defense. Last week the defense looked inspired. Tonight they were flat. If we can play a game where the defense from Princeton and the offense from the PC game both show up on the same day, we'll be dangerous.

I think PC got two scores off of bad penatly calls. The excessive celebration and the biggest dive I've ever seen including any soccer player. There punter had his back to the ref and fell when Terrance Reece landed about a foot away from him. They scored on both those drives. Our second and third string were in for the last TD. Unfortunately the D didn't step up and stop them.
PC ran so many HB draws that our linebackers never really figured out they were running so they were in pass protection with huge holes right up the middle. Our corners were, what it looked like, trying to contain big throws, but not step up to stop them. PC had one dropped pass that would have been a TD had the reciever caught it.
We may be in the hunt for a middle of the road record 4-4 or 3-5 in the conference again. I think we will know more this week when App St is in town. I thought we had the home schedule for a big year with Wofford, ASU, Samford, and Furman at home. Looks like Elon is going to be one we wished was a home game over Wofford.
... At least we have a shot to beat Wofford for the first time since I was a knob (1998).

Yeah, that's about what I am thinking. Somewhere around .500 in the SoCon. Higher than predicted (which most of us knew already) but not top three unless we step things up a little. If we get a little more blocking then we could have a shot at the top three.

PC is a good offensive club and will win a couple of games in the "little south conference". they ran 80 plays and when you run that many the yards will pile up. we will know a whole lot more about our team this time next week. on the injury front we came through our non-conference portion of our schedule healthy and ready to go and compete for the Southern Conference Championship.

There's something to be said for that. Running game is looking much better. Punter can kick, so we aren't losing as much field position there. I thought the FG kicking was solved, but Keeler missing 2 PAT's.
I wonder if some of PC's success can be attributed to playing four straight SoCon teams?
We had a PC Head Coach from the early 1970's at our tailgate ... he coached the 1971 and 1979 teams that beat The Citadel team. (I nicely greeted him with "Go Newberry".

They still have some tension in that rivalry.) He was very surprised at how well PC moved the ball on us. He expected our offensive performance. They only have 46 or 47 full scholarships and have until the Clemson game next year to 57 full sholarships. So I would say they are doing well considering there progression into the FCS ranks.
