The Appalachian defense has finally arrived!
Two straight 3 and outs forced, plus an App punt that was downed at the 1-yard-line.
7-0 App, 5 min left in the first.

App went for it on 4th and 1 on the Samford 35 and didn't get it.
Samford got their first 1st down, but then punted it for the 4th time already.
3rd and 3 for App on their own 47, 1st quarter just ended.

Armanti escaped a blitz, broke 2 tackles, fumbled the ball and picked it up and threw an 8-yard completion on the same play.
Drive stalled in the red zone. Vitaris 21 yd FG good. 10-0 App, 9:50 left in the 2nd.
Taliaferro is 0-5 passing so far. Total yards is 192-33 in favor of App.

Taliaferro just got his first completion. He's now 1 of 9 for 4 yards plus a pick.
EDIT: And the completion was to Evans, the RB. He's got 52 of Samford's 71 yards.

Taliaferro's pasing stats would be okay in the terrible weather.....if Armanti wasn't 10 of 12 passing for 120 yards and a TD.

Edwards is 13 of 16 passing for 146 yards and a TD and a rushing TD.
Total yards are 283 for App, 73 for Samford.
App also has 62 penalty yards against them compared to 15 for Samford.
Evans has 13 rushes for 48 yards plus Samford's only reception for 4 yards.
Moore has 10 rushes for 80 yards. Armanti has 34 yards and Baker has 24 yards.
Samford seven drives have ended with 6 punts and one pick.

Samford's all sorts of messed up. They've used 2 timeouts, had one false start and given up one sack on their opening drive in the 2nd half.

Another App punt. Offense is sputtering but the defense and special teams are still coming up huge.
Still 20-0 starting the 4th quarter.
4th and 1 Samford deep in their own zone. They call their final TO.

#57 from App St should be ejected. He leveled the Samford QB with his shoulder....PS....he was on the SIDELINE...not playing.

To be fair to the defense, that penalty mentioned above was after stopping Samford on a 3rd and long at midfield.

Good to see and that's what I figured would happen. I knew they were gonna be a real sour group to deal with after letting that McNeese rest on the table for two weeks. Good job to the App's.
