Only three games into his UMass career, Junior QB Kyle Havens has been named the New England Gold Helmet Award winner of the week for his performance again URI last Saturday...
He received the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Awards for week three of the 2009 football season at the New England Football Writers' Luncheon, hosted at Harvard's Dillon Field House.
Havens was also named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday as well as being honored as the UMass Athlete of the Week.
Havens, a junior from Concord, Calif., threw for a career high 329 yards and two touchdowns in No. 17 Massachusetts' 30-10 win over Rhode Island on Saturday. The CAA honored him as Offensive Player of the Week after completing 22-of-30 passes. In the first half, he was nearly perfect, throwing 15 of 17 for 206 yards and two touchdowns. The transfer from Diablo Valley College was also named the UMass/Dinn Brothers Athlete of the Week on Monday

I'm going to look like a freaking prediction genious at the end of the year. I got completely ripped a new one over at *** for saying that UMass is a top 10 team right now. The defensive line is unbelievably good and your QB is legit.
Albany shouldn't have lost by 36 (4 INTs and a fumble contributed) but its unlikely the Danes would have gotten within a TD. UMass is the real deal.
Definitely the short end of the scheduling stick compared to UNH this year.

Thanks for the vote of confidence...this team is really growing on me...lots fewer mistakes than last year...the defense is really playing well, and the OB/Receivers are starting to click, while Tony Nelson is just doing his things running the ball...
I disagree with you last statement, because I want this team to prove it against the best...we have Richmond at Richmond and JMU at home...and we'll find out this weekend how good Delaware is when they play Bill & Mary...we have the Hens in the hen house on the 10th...
