I think its a good chance, but who knows how morale was after last week's butt-whooping.

A nice pre-game story on some history of this matchup.

They got crushed pretty handily last week by UMass... I'm going to have to go with a "no" here.

Agreed, but we can always hope.

Combine GSU beating Albany with mainejeff bashing the South equals all the SoCon cheering for Albany

It's got nothing to do with Jeff. I actually like the guy. Come to think of it, I don't dislike anyone on here. The first point is it. If Albany can handle Maine then GSU won't suck as much as we do right now.

EDIT: I forgot about AZ. He's a dick.

If the Maine team that showed up (if you wanna call it showing up) against St. Cloud - the Danes can get the win.

Transitive property theory... very complicated and abstract, we have tons of scientist are working on it now to break it's code. So far we can prove everything but at the same time prove that we are wrong.

Im going to go with Albany in this one, mainly just because i have been very dissapointed with how Maine has played so far this year, barely beating a D2 team and then struggling with Northeastern. I think the Danes will be hungry for a win and to prove themselves after a close loss to GSU and revenge for the butt whooping they got last week :twocents:

Ford on his Thursday radio check-in (missed the beginning but here's what I got):

McCarty's health is up in the air - hammy is good, hip pointer is the problem.

Smith will get more carries at RB if McCarty can't go.

Casselle has a tweaked hamstring - should be fine.

Keys of the game against Maine (which according to Ford, isn't as good as UMass, but is slightly better than GSU):
1. Cannot turn the ball over
2. stop the run
3. establish the run
4. make progress in the kicking game (need a breakout Special Teams play this week)

How important is this game? - VERY IMPORTANT - we need to continue narrowing the gap with the full-scholarship FCS conferences. Every year we've done it and we need to do it this year as well.

Ford expects a big crowd - buzz on campus and the weather should be good. (keep in mind a big crowd for us is 5,000+ :shake:

That's an average crowd for Maine. How many were in attendance at the UNH home opener?

Maine's play calling on offense is horrendous. Cosgrove has a man crush on QB Brusko who CANNOT throw the ball down field and really can't run that well either. Maine's All-American FB Turcotte has been out and most likely won't play in this one either. QB Smith gives us hope.......he won the game at NU. Maine's D was much improved against NU.

With Brusko at QB: Albany 24 Maine 17
With Smith at QB: Maine 34 Albany 24

Who would've thunk it a year ago that the kid from Iona who got killed last year by Maine would have such an impact for Maine this year.

I got nothing against Maine but I will be pulling for Albany. I've really come to like Bob Ford a lot and he was a real class guy when he was here and had a real "ah shucks" type of thing going with his quotes in the Missoulian so I always want to see him get a win against more loaded teams. Albany has really made some strides in the last decade to becoming a real good team. I've gotta pull for the underdane in this one.

Believe me........the only thing that makes Albany the "underdog" is the scholarship issue.

True......but they may overcome it anyway. Maine's coaching is the great equalizer. :(

UNH is a couple of bad seasons from falling BELOW Maine in the CAA Football pecking order due to their poor facilities and finicky fans. Considering UNH's recent string of success.......I'm not impressed with their attendance.
