Special delivery. It may sound cliche but that’s exactly what the ROTC units from James Madison University and Virginia Military Institute plan to do with the game ball for their schools’ Sept. 19 football game.

The JMU Duke Battalion and VMI’s Marshall-New Market Battalion will march the game ball from Lexington to Harrisonburg as a tribute to the sacrifice of the nation’s men and women who are serving in the Armed Forces around the world.

Pretty cool, I like this. A nice tribute too I think. Wish I could be there to watch them march the ball into the stadium together.

Stonewall Jackson taught there before the war.

The Keydets performed pretty well at the Battle of New Market despite heavy casualties.

General Jackson did teach artillery at vmi.

Only ONE Military College carries 9 Battle Streamers from the engagements they fought whilst performing Gods Good Work of exterminating as many members of the vile yankee race as was possible.

I think both schools can be proud of their contribution to the Southern cause. :thumb:

I've had several family members attend VMI (including one who died at New Market), so VMI has a special place in my heart. My children are on the VMI mailing list (conditional acceptance I think it's called), so they periodically get VMI literature in the mail.

Any Service Academy or Military Academy always will be the teams i go for and respect the most as i hope to be joining our armed forces very soon. This is a great thing JMU is doing and im sure it is appreciated by thos who serve, but i have to hope the Keydets play well in this one, leaning towards VMI :thumb:
