Indy hell? Whats so bad about being Indy? You can schedule anybody you want!
Lets think about it, Being in a conference is like being in a dead end job. You can do what you want, you cant go where you want.

Notre Dame in a rebuilding year schedules teams like u dub & wazzu. & When they have a good team & are trying to campaign for the title, they schedule tough teams. Indy is brilliant.. if you do it correctly. :ugeek:

indy is an f'ing nightmare... especially in basketball NDSU was just there... and it was brutal, especially when conference season begins... that, combined with no hope at all of reaching the post season... yuck

Seattle is working on it with the WCC - and it will likely happen soon
Bakersfield is working on the Big West, and that should happen (they would be GREAT in FCS - there's a beautiful 20,000 seat stadium in Bakersfield just begging for FCS)
Dunno about Longwood or the Savannah State Shitshow... (Longwood would seem a logical fit for Big South)

and Morris Brown is coming up in hoops (and hopefully someday in football)

^Morris Brown is moving up?

Also, I thought I read Longwood might end up in the A-Sun if a few teams move, which they are looking to do.

Yeah they have a really nice stadium. I went to a track meet there once. It has two levels and is carved out the side of a hill. Plus there is plenty of room to expand. I would think it could get quite loud in there if it was sold out. Too bad the stadium is for the JC and CSU Bakersfield doesn’t field a football team. They have about the same odds of starting football as Long Beach State and CSU Fullerton does…which means that won’t happen anytime soon.
But yeah they will fit right in the Big West for all the athletics they do field.

so ESPN seems to say with their college hoops standings - they list morris brown as d-I independent... however - i find it hard to believe given they have about 200 students and aren't accredited anymore

Indy scheduling is HORRIBLE. Nobody outside of possibly a geographic rival will schedule you after conference begins. There are only TWO D-I football indy programs who can make the post season, and neither of them are are FCS: Notre Dame and Navy. And Navy gets that nod only in the last decade or so. FCS indies get the shaft faster than Pioneer League teams. Cow Poly is a perfect example of that.

and if the USNA didn't have a HUGE presence in Honolulu and San Diego - I'd bet they wouldn't get any bids to bowls either... but hey... the Poinsettia Bowl and the Hawai'i Bowl needs a crowd too i guess...

That is a misprint on ESPN's part. MBC is on the verge of dying, sadly. Mismanagement and the refusal to accept help.

I have to agree with SH.
When I was at Towson we were an indy in football. We played MEAC, PL and Yankee teams, I guess scheduling in the NE is easier for FCS school than out west, but when it comes to making the playoffs, conference politics comes into play. We got hosed my senior year.

I don't see Morris Brown playing football for a while. It's a shame how the SWAC got their hopes up and left them high and dry.

Correct, it has the team as NULL now. They must of been doing updating and some how that transferred over from the older site.

Still 4 actual independents who hopefully all have homes.

my hunch is, in the offseason - they don't think too many people are going to go there - fair enough too
