- NConf Record: 2-6
Overall: 2-6
vs. FCS: 0-0
Overall: 0-0
Best Performance: (#3) Montana 38, (DII) Western St. 0 - Not quite as dominant as expected, but the Griz offense still put up 444 yards despite synchronicity issues while the defense continued its usual dominance.
Worst Performance: Idaho St. 3, (FBS) Arizona St. 50 - 37 yards of offense is pathetic no matter who you're playing.
Most Surprising Result: (#9) Weber St. 22, (FBS) Wyoming 29 - I still think the Wildcats may be the better team here, but it's hard to beat anybody when your star quarterback throws 5 picks. A bigger concern for Weber is that they gave up 246 rushing yards to a team that lost their top two runners from last year.

Best Performance: (#13) Central Arkansas 20, (FBS) Hawai'i 25 - It's exceedingly difficult to win on the islands, but the Bears were less than two minutes away from doing just that.
Worst Performance: Nicholls St. 0, (FBS) Air Force 72 - When an option team gets outrushed 474-90, this is the type of score you expect to see.
Most Surprising Result: (#15) McNeese St. 27, (DII) Henderson St. 24 - The Southland seems to have a knack for heart-pounding non-DI games.

Best Performance: (#4) Northern Iowa 16, (FBS #22) Iowa 17 - The Panthers find another unbelievably tragic way to lose a big game.
Worst Performance: Illinois St. 6, Eastern Illinois 31 - How do you only score 6 points when your starting QB completes 91% of his passes?
Most Surprising Result: Indiana St. 10, (FBS) Louisville 30 - Let's see⦠The Sycamores lose to an NAIA team, that NAIA team loses to SEMO 72-3, and then Louisville beats Indiana State by just 20. Are you sure that wasn't 120?

Best Performance: (#24) Eastern Kentucky 13, (FBS) Indiana 19 - Granted, Indiana is a weak Big Ten team, but the Colonels still did an admirable job rallying from an early 9-0 deficit despite a lot of new starters.
Worst Performance: Tennessee St. 7, Alabama A&M 24 - The Tigers are outgained by 218 yards and only complete 37% of their passes against a team they crushed last season.
Most Surprising Result: Southeast Missouri St. 72, (NAIA) Quincy 3 - A surprisingly lopsided loss given that Quincy just beat Indiana State and the Redhawks only beat the horrid Sycamores by 3 last year.
Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Nice to see you brought this back, i always enjoy reading Mvemjsunpx

. My only comment is that i dont think ISU should be the worst performance as they were expected to be that bad this year, id go with Montana State and their hyped defense getting shredded by MSU through the air, thought they would make a better showing

Agree. How would you like to be what's left of ISU heading into Norman next? The Sooners could be a little mad.

Honorable mention MVC - SIU held Marshall to 76 yards rushing, and the offense had three 60+ yard drives for TDs including a 91 yard drive in the 4th quarter. UNI's homecoming has the potential to be one of the best FCS games of this season, get your tickets now folks.

It was great seeing the 3 big upsets over FBS'. Not as many games remaining now but would be cool to see 1 or 2 more next week.
2. Richmond Spiders (1-0)
Sep. 5: def. Duke (24-16) (Wallace Wade Stadium)
5. Villanova Wildcats (1-0)
Sep. 3: def. Temple (27-24) (Lincoln Financial Field)
14. William & Mary Tribe (1-0)
Sep. 5: def. Virginia (26-14) (David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium)

I like the new jerseys.
Can't find any faults in the statements of the MSU corners getting shredded but two of them(1true freshman, 1 freshman) playing in front of 75,000 in their first game had to be tough. MSU will probably get starting CB Nicol and S Retoriano back this week but I have a feeling neither will play against Dixie.
Since screamer has got an Internet hardon for the Bobcats, I nominate the EWU fans for worst performance in their abysmal opening day attendance of 3,113.

I have to side with Mvemj. Both MSU and ISU looked pathetic, but as to the quality of opponenets, Michigan State has been picked by some publications to finish just behind Ohio State and Penn State in the Big 10. The Bobcats will not be the only team the Spartans will make look terrible this year. Arizona State was supposed to be mid-pack in the Pac-10 at best this year, and the Bengals were supposed to be just as improved as any one else in the conference. My nod for worse goes to ISU.

It's only hard for you catattack, cum here buddy!

(No homo

) Really, I just rip on the Cats for a couple of reasons: they haven't beat us in over half a decade, their fans always get sour, and mostly because two MSU posters on AGS are two of the biggest douchebags I've ever seen post (GOKATS and FTG'06). I don't have any issues with you CA.
Yet.
Oh, and P.S.: I agree about your last statement. I'm ashamed of our fans... we don't even know how to make much noise at a game. As I was walking up to the stadium (before I could see it), you couldn't tell there was a football game being played. Sounded more like a Track Meet.

In all fairness though, Classes don't start for another 3 weeks, and Cheney is a SMALL ass fuckin' town; it's population doubles when school is in session.

My best & worst performances aren't relative. It doesn't really matter how good or bad the team is expected to be (that's what the most surprising result is for).
I was actually torn between the ISU loss & the Sac loss, but the 37 yards of offense was way easier to write about so the Bengals got the nod.

Sac State was down 10-3 midway through the 3rd quarter. Dailey rushed for over 100 yards. The only real disappointed showing was the 99 yards of passing offense generated and failure to reach the end zone.
