Can Cats Exceed Expectations?

CULLOWHEE — Low expectations, like being picked next to last in the Southern Conference, are understandable, according to Western Carolina football coach Dennis Wagner.
Outside distractions, like being the only school without a player on the preseason All-SoCon team, are best ignored, according to quarterback Zack Jaynes.
But being held in such low esteem is pushing some buttons in Cullowhee as the Catamounts prepare for the upcoming season.
“Disrespected,” said WCU linebacker Adrian McLeod when asked his reaction to preseason polls and picks. “I feel as though everyone has an open chance during the season, and nobody's proven anything yet to start the season off. For them to just make names and make decisions and not invite one player from our team felt very rude and very disrespectful
