ASU QB back for his senior season

BOONE — Appalachian State coach Jerry Moore stands in the south end zone at Kidd-Brewer Stadium, the same 10-yard stretch where four years ago he realized what he had in Armanti Edwards.

“It was (preseason) camp his freshman year in our Fan Fest (scrimmage),” said Moore, 70, the architect of a Southern Conference football dynasty that includes three straight FCS national championships (2006-08) and four consecutive league titles.

“I was standing right there on the goal line, and he was running in for a score,” Moore said. “He didn't score, but the way he challenged that goal line was something else. I could see it in his eyes how competitive he was, and I liked that.

“But we had no idea then he would turn out to be the player he is.”
