UMass Names Starting QB

A week before opening the 2009 season at Kansas State, UMass head Coach Kevin Morris has named JUCO transfer Kyles Havens the starting QB for the Minutemen.
As I predicted a few weeks ago (hey, even a broken watch is right twice a day), the California native beat out senior Scott Woodward, who has spent the last three seasons backing up Liam Coen...
I feel better about the season now...while I haven't seen Havens in action, those who have say he's the guy to run the offense...with Tony Nelson in the backfield, a strong O-Line, and and a good corps of receivers, it's looking up for this season...

"He has had more efficient days, day-in and day-out making him the guy for Saturday (at Kansas State on Sept. 5).
"Kyle's the starting quarterback. It's his position to have and to hold as long as he can maintain us and get us into the end zone. With every position its competition all year long at UMass - quarterback included."
