Not a bad poll actually.

UCA is too high probably, but everyone has overlooked how much they lost, IMO and the random 1st place votes for Weber and SC State are just dumb.

Other than that, TSN voters got their obligatory PL, Ivy and SWAC teams in regardless of actual on field results. But that's to be expected and at least they put them in the bottom.

A number of things stand out, but not the least of which is Elon @ #11, a FIRST PLACE VOTE FOR South Carolina State     and a vote at ALL for Portland State... :coffee: :coffee:

And why is that?

last season Weber beat Montana when they were 3rd in the nation, and won at Cal Poly when they were 3rd in the nation, its realistic, not dumb.

Weber is a good team, but do you really think they are the #1 team in the nation?

Sorry man, I think its an unrealistic, and therefore dumb, vote.

I don't think that it is out of place for Weber for to have a first place vote either. Montana has two and it's a tossup as to who wins the conference and Weber proved they can play anybody well last year and return the mofority of the team so I don't see a problem there. The Elon placement seems a bit high to me as well, but the same argument I just made for Weber could likely be made for them.

It depends on the voters philosophy I guess. I could see voting them the best team in the nation at this point based on what they are bringing back and a slight dose of homerism. If the voter voted based on who they think will win in late December based on what they know now then I could see that as well.

No I dont think Weber is the #1 team in the Nation....yet, they have to prove themselves, but they do have the potential to be a #1 ranked team.

thoeretically, if Weber were to come out of Laramie or Ft. Collins with a win, would you still think that #1 vote would be dumb?

I think the 1st place vote for Weber is a bit of a stretch. They're good, but not THAT good. If they hadn't lost to EWU at the end of the regular season last year, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But hey, what do I know. I don't even know what a mofority is.

OK - dumb use of the word dumb for Weber's 1st place vote.

Voting for SCSU as a #1 = dumb.
Voting for Weber as a #1 = a stretch.

Better Big Sky guys?

Sure Dane but I think you need to see the offense in action. It's tough to judge even from video but they are probably the most well balanced and prolific offense in the FCS if they can build even a little bit on last years team. The word stretch is better but I would call it a slight stretch based on what I know right now. If there were a lot of first place votes for them then I would start to wonder a little bit more but I can see ONE guy thinking they may be the best out there right now. I am operating under the assumption that the voter is pretty familiar with Weber.

Yes, because I'm the one that said it was a stretch. Why'd you have to go and make it dumb? ;)

funny I was gonna say Albany needs less votes, but I think we know where my thinking is this year. CS.com's own Albany hater. We don't have one. So I will be playing the roll of NEC basher all year. :thumb:

If we have a poll however I would never vote that way, like the Terror :thumb:

    Someone has to keep your passion burning past the first post DF. You make too sound of an argument not to let the rest of it be heard. I usually end up agreeing with the Albany fans when their arguments are made, maybe its because so many of you guys are lawyers and post sound logical arguments.

Voting SCSU #1 is absolutely insane. I'd like to see that ballot. Otherwise, it's not a terrible poll. Elon probably isn't out of place at 11, IMO, as they were decent last year and didn't lose much. They've begun to develop a run game, which has been lacking for the past few seasons. Hudgins and Riddle are a potent combo. Their schedule doesn't favor them, though, as they have 3 of the last 4 on the road (ASU at home - next to last game of the season). They get GSU at home, but travel to Furman and Wofford. Those three games will determine their season.

Gee, couldn't they find a way to get the whole CAA in there? I mean, really, just 7? :D
