We have this going over at bobcatfans. So I thought I'd do it here to get wider insight... or maybe just to get some of you thinking.

Who do you think will be the true freshman to make the biggest impact as a player, on your team, this year?

this is the query on BCF
Jody wrote:It seems like every year a true freshman comes in and makes an impact. Who will be the 2009 True Freshman Impact Player?

Our former impact players are
2005-Donovan King Dline (graduated May 2009)
2006-Alex Darley WR (kicked off team.....long story)
2007-Marcus Clark - Dline - Jr
2008-Mishak Rivas - RB - So

I'm having a long think on my prediction/thoughts on who will be our impact player and will post it later.

Ok, no beating around the bush...... here's what I came up with

Justin Garelick
Place Kicker
5-11 150 FR HS
We lost our placekicker. This position can, at times, make or break a game. We need someone solid and dependable here. I always hold my breath when our pk comes out (well, the past several years anyway) and I'd like to not feel that urge to vomit every time.

OR

Prestin Brown
Defensive Line
6-3 236 FR HS
Chishcogo, MN (Grand Prairie, TX)
This kid has kind of been on the back burner but lest we forget he repped the US in the Jr World Football Championship and made that all-tournament team. Not too shabby.

(course I don't know, yet, who will redshirt)

This is what I posted at BCF too.

For GSU I'd say on defense LB Josh Rowe and on offense either WR JJ Wilcox or WR Jamere Valentine.

I'm hoping Southern doesn't have to play too many freshman, when they do it usually means a long season. But one who looks like he will get some time is Brandon Rice (Walnut Ridge HS Columbus, Ohio)
