He was ranting on and on about the Florida/Charleston Southern game, and laughing on the air while naming off CSU's opponents..."they play something called Liberty, something called Woe-ford," said North Greenville "sounds like a high school team"....dude is fucking clueless. I never really liked him before, but now I'll just pass on him altogether. He is a HUGE Notre Dame homer (which right THERE makes him an idiot), and bashes teams at random. He obviously knows nothing about FCS, nor cares to learn. Interesting that he can just dismiss anything but BCS....

Guess they figure that's all people want to hear about....but I, for one, won't be tuning in again.

His Wikipedia entry says he attended Eastern Washington. He should definitely know better about the quality of FCS football.

He's actually a USC homer/any team that is winning homer. Perhaps this will help you understand his personality, he did attend an FCS school, so for as much shit as he may talk... it's probably just his universities little man complex that rides him. You could relate his napoleon complex to another brother from his Alma mata who post on this board... think of a Big Sky poster who talks a bunch of illogical trash.


... That said, I enjoy Cowherd (except for his new show "sports nation," what a piece of trash worthless garbage... I didn't think it could get worse than Around the Horn, but it did)... most of the time he cuts through the BS, but sometimes he's as big a homer/nerd as are the people he talks shit about.

Cowherd is an idiot, plain and simple. When I used to drive all day, in sales, I would always find something else on during his show on ESPN Radio. I could stand Mike and Mike, and love Dan Patrick (with the French Dibbler), but just couldn't stomach the Herd. F'em.

Come on, don't you guys get sick of complaining about this kind of thing? WE know what we have at the I-AA ( that was just to piss some people off) level...who cares if ignorant sluts like Cowherd don't? Let him slob all over the UF/ND/USC locker rooms trying to score a freebie. And let the rest of the 'experts' anaylze to kingdom come what amounts to a computer simulated season punctuated at season's end 30+ bowls, where even the fifth place ACC team can play! (actually, is that any different than 5 CAA teams making the I-AA playoffs?? )

I've got to wonder though....we always bash the FBS bowl system because, ultimately, it doesn't crown a true champion (among other things). But let's say that they did go to a 4 or 8, or god forbid, a 16 team playoff system? What would we all say then? Would we just find something else to complain about?

I used to listen to Cowherd quite a bit. I don't anymore but it's not because of what he talks about. He's a very entertaining guy but he says things like he did about FCS to elicit combative conversation. He takes shots at big schools and big conferences all the time to get people fired up. It's his shtick. He's a lot like D1B and Cap'n and a lot of others on this board. Sometimes you say things just to stir people up and make sure they have a pulse. When he gets going on Hockey and it's role in the sports universe it's pretty funny how mad he can get Hockey fans. Don't know how people don't see that after years on the radio.

I just can't stand how he says "always". He pronounces the end of the word weird and it drives me nuts, and he says it a lot. But other than that, he bugs me cause he thinks he is the isht and soo cool.

Agreed with much of what you say, bandl. My issue is less with his bashing CSU's schedule and more with the fact that, as a NATIONAL talk show host he should at least be familiary with other schools outside of the BCS, and at least know how to PRONOUNCE a school's name. Is that REALLY too much to ask? I mean, he's not some local yokel from South Bend or L.A. who's never gotten out of their back yard....

I love Colin. The thing that really disappointed me about his rant yesterday is that it was an absolute rehash of a rant of his last year. He was ripping on some of the Big 12 schools for scheduling and used the exact same line. Iowa State is playing something called a South Dakota State. I was bummed at his lack of originality.

The issue I have with Cowherd and PTI (even though that show is alright) is that they are so far stretched as sports reporters that they're not always clued in. I'm not a huge NBA fan, but when I follow the NHL, NFL, MLB, or college sports and Kornheiser pulls a, "I didn't know he was still in the league" or a, "who are they?" I always shake my head in disappointment

Good try. But I love FCS football...even more than i like FBS & NFL. I also love my alma mater. Cowherd is an EWU alum...that doesnt mean I agree with what he says.
