What's the biggest Big Sky game in 2009?

On the Big Sky's site they had a vote to see what would be the biggest game of the year. The top pick was Weber vs Montana, second was Montana State vs Montana.

What does everyone here think?

Personally, I think one of the biggest games for WSU fans is the NCAA DI scoring rematch back in Portland! Weber at PSU last meeting in Portland was WSU winning 73-68. PSU's QB had 9 TD passes! The season before that game in basketball WSU beat PSU the same score - 73-68.

As excited for the PSU rematch I am...I'll have to go with UM of course as the biggest game. Biggest home game: Montana State & Idaho State.

If Weber doesn't beat PSU, their game on 10/31 won't matter.

Then I guess the same can be said for WSU vs Idaho State.

Well, Weber will start out the year 0-2, and with only 9 games left, it'll be an uphill climb. They'll lose in Missoula, which means if they lose a SINGLE other game, they'll be 7-4 and on the outside lookin' in come playoff time. So, for THEM, every week after their two FBS games is a playoff game. They lose, they're done.

If you need 7 wins to get in the playoffs...I guess they only have 9 chances but that's 1 more chance than last season.

September 5 at Wyoming .... tough road game
September 12 at Colorado State .... tough road game
September 19 Idaho State .... rivalry game...always tough
September 26 at Portland State .... rematch game always tough
October 3 Montana State .... top conference opponent always tough
October 10 at Eastern Washington .... top conference opponent/tough road game
October 17 Sacramento State .... good competition on the rise.. should win
October 24 at Northern Colorado .... should be able to win on the road
October 31 at Montana .... top NAtional oppoonent/very tough road game
November 14 Northern Arizona .... good competion.. should be a win
November 21 Cal Poly .... rematch game/tough OOC opponent.

red=possible loss for wsu

Look like Weber's schedule is harder than most wsu fans think it is. Los 4 of those games and its a wrap.

im lying because playing 2 fbs teams is not a tough schedule? i dont care if its utah state twice....its still tougher than any fcs ooc games. show me a tougher non big sky schedule? only ones i can think of is caa. either way its a short list.

being one of the toughest schedules or not it'll still be difficult to get the minimum wins.

blackfalcon, did i say you automatically get in for getting 7 fcs wins? no i just said regardless of what u do u need 7 fcs wins. u need 6 wins to get to a bowl in fbs, doesnt guarentee anything though, same pt.

First big game for each Big Sky school this year (my opinion)...

EWU---9/26 at Sacramento State---An opening conference road win for the Eagles would start this troubled year off right and get all the fans thinking about a special season.

ISU---10/3 Eastern Washington---After a brutal September, October starts with a home opener against the probationary Eagles. A win could make the Bengals relevant again.

UM---9/12 at UC-Davis---Last year the Aggies gave the Griz all they could handle early in the year at Missoula. Now the Griz take an unproven QB to Davis. The biggest hurdle before Halloween.

MSU---9/26 at Northern Colorado---Bobcats need to take care of business in their first conference game. Don't be looking ahead.

NAU---9/26 Montana---It could be argued that the biggest game for everyone in the Big Sky is against Montana. The Jacks need this opening conference game to cement the idea that they will be a force this year.

UNC---9/19 at Eastern Washington---Is this the year the Bears turn some heads? Win this game and they will.

PSU---9/26 Weber State---Vikings always play tough at home. A win against the Wildcats could shake things up early in the conference.

Sac State---9/12 at Cal Poly---The Hornets are a sleeper pick for some this year. How they do on the road against Cal Poly could give a good indication if they are for real or just hype.

WSU---9/26 at Portland State---Road games are always tough in conference. Wildcats need this game to stay in the national picture.

Seven DI wins is a guideline, not a rule, but realistically a team is not going to make the playoffs with less than seven DI wins. The Cats had seven wins last year but only six were DI because South Dakota was in transition and didn't count as a DI win. As far as the comment saying no BSC team will make the playoffs with only seven DI wins, bullsh!t (I realize that wasn't your comment BF). It has happened and not that long ago.

Their season will be over before their first home game. That is brutal man. I'll be surprised to see them win a single game this year. :shake:

Yep, The win over Colorado probably didn't hurt any though.

EWU made it with seven in '05 and '07- maybe more but I'm busy right now.

No calmin' down necessary, the topic at the time was 'how many DI wins ..............'

EWU also made the playoffs in '04 with seven DI wins.
