9/5 At Vanderbilt Lose- A improved vandy team should blow us out by half 42-3
9/12 GARDNER-WEBB Win- Gardner-Webb? c'mon we gotta at least beat them. In a close one 24-23
9/19 At Georgia Southern Lose- This should be a close game but my catamounts should just fall short. 31-25
9/26 FURMAN Lose- WCU loses this one in a heartbreaker 20-17
10/3 At Samford Win- WCU's game of the year, Catamounts win it in a fluke upset 28-27 OT
10/17 THE CITADEL (HC) Win-   C'mon The Citadel sucks. whip em 21-0
10/24 WOFFORD Lose- Back to back wins will have gone to a young Catamount teams' head. 45-14
10/31 At Chattanooga Win- I actually believe we have a chance in this one. There again fluke upset 13-10
11/7 ELON Loss- A game we will have the halftime lead than lose this one, 35-21
11/14 At Eastern Kentucky Loss- Decent team blows us out, 45-0
11/21 At App St. Loss-Big game at boone in Edwards' last home game with a hostile crowd App blows us out and takes jug for 5th straight year :x :x :x :x :x

Crap, 4-7 plus a loss to App :shake: ugh its early but with our young team most of this could happen. REAL fans stick by their team til the end.

Okay? How am I a rat? Is it because I'm thinking REALISTICALLY about our season?? Believe me man, There is nothing that a want to say more than "We are gonna go undefeated and win the nat'l title" and nothing that I wanna see more than us beating App and winning our first FCS title. But I can't right now, NO ONE can. Were like the UM wolverines in FBS. Young team with great future potential.

9/5 @ Georgia Southern - 24-17 loss.....a late 4Q TD will put GSU over Albany. McCarty with 175 yrds rushing.
9/12 @ UMass - 20-10 win.....Danes get over the UMass game from last year, which Albany had the lead in at halftime and came back from the second half and blew it. McCarty with 125 yards rushing.
9/19 vs. Maine - 21-17 loss for Albany....Maine is good and Albany will put up a fight. Danefan gets drunk in the parking lot and only sees the first half.
9/26 vs. Sacred Heart - 35-27 win for Albany.....SHU is going to be able to score points again this year, but they'll do it very late in this game and Albany will hold on. Danefan gets drunk in the parking lot and only sees the first half.
10/3 @ St. Francis - 42-10 win for Albany.....St. Francis = bad.
10/10 vs. Duquesne (HC) - 35-14 win for Albany in front of a big homecoming crowd. Danefan gets drunk in the parking lot and only sees the first quarter.
10/17 vs. Bryant - 28-17 win for Albany. Danefan gets drunk in the parking lot and never actually makes it into the game.
10/24 @ Monmouth - 35-7 win for Albany.....Monmouth has too much to replace from last year. Danefan doesn't get drunk because Mrs. Danefan will be in attendance in good old NJ.
10/31 @ Central Conn. St. - 42-35 win for Albany.....this could be the only NEC loss for Albany in 3 years. CCSU is the only team in the NEC that will get close to challenging Albany.
11/7 vs. Robert Morris - 35-14 win for Albany- too long of a trip for RMU to recover and play in a windy, cold November game. Danefan watches this blowout from the Across the Street pub because its too damn cold to sit on crappy bleachers and watch a blowout.
11/21 @ Wagner - 42-7 win for Albany....if Albany can squeek out two wins against GSU, Maine and/or UMass, this game could be the clincher for an at-large for Albany. Coming off a bye week, the Danes will roll in Staten Island, like usual. Wagner has field turf now and can no longer let the grass grow to 6 inches to try and slow down McCarty (like they used to do with Gary Jones). Danefan gets drunk in the parking lot and begins posting on AGS for the first time in months, proclaiming all who question Albany at-large to be total tools. That lasts for approximately 2 posts.

Reality: 9-2 and another bid to the shitty Gridiron Classic. This time at least it will probably be in Sunny San Diego - at least we can hope it will.

So after beating up the rich kids from San Diego, the final tally is 10-2.

David McCarty goes for another 1800 yard season to cap off a ridiculous career and start his new life as a Marine. :thumb:

DF you are calling for a loss to Maine by fewer points than a predicted loss to GSU. I think you are giving GSU too much credit. I also don't think you are giving enough credit to Umass and CCSU.

DF, you had a great theme going there with the home games and appeared to be building to an eventual crescendo but your finale was a huge letdown. Can I suggest something along the lines of the following:

11/7 vs. Robert Morris - 35-14 win for Albany- too long of a trip for RMU to recover and play in a windy, cold November game. Danefan arrives at the Across the Street pub early and begins downing Bloody Marys. He passes out in the booth before the game starts and wakes up in an alley with no wallet, no pants and pierced body parts.

I think Maine and GSU will be on about the same level (Maine staying the same from last year and GSU getting better). My difference in score has to do with location - Stateboro in September will be tough for Albany. At Albany will cause somewhat of a shock to Maine.....its called the Parson's Field effect. Parsons is a tough place to play because its a high school field. Well.....Parson's looks like an NFL stadium compared to University Field. That effects visiting teams.

I don't think UMass will be as good as they were last year (replacing Cohen) and Albany could have (and in my eyes should have) won last year. Without Cohen I believe Albany wins that game last year.

I gave CCSU a lot of credit. I think they are the only NEC team that can possibly beat Albany next year.

That's probably a pretty good assessment of reality. I usually don't make it out of the Pub if I spend it in there watching the game. They give you those 8 oz glasses with your pitchers. Makes you feel like you aren't drinking as much.  Until you try and stand up.

Be careful.....the apocolypse happens AFTER the football season is over (and right before the NC game).

2009 Thunderbird Schedule:

Dixie State: W (Sub par D2 team against probably our best team the FCS has ever seen, feel bad for the Red Storm 49-3)

@ San Diego State L (Aztecs got a great coach and just will have to much depth for the Thunderbirds to handle, 38-14)

@ NAU W (I think after a close last second lost to the Lumberjacks SUU will get revenge in Flagstaff in a tough fought game, also strengthen case for a Big Sky Bid, 24-17)

@ Utah State L (The Aggies and Thunderbirds will play tough but i think Andre Borrel and USU's new head coach and a third road game will beat the Thunderbirds in a close game, 34-24)

Texas State W (After beating the Bobcats soundly on their home turf i see SUU beating the Bobcats in a closer game in front of a big home crowd for the first home game in three weeks, 38-21)

@ Cal Poly L (A better game then last years but i think Ellerson recruited well enough that the Mustangs talent along with their new coach will beat the thunderbirds, also because the triple option offense is the best out there, 31-27)

North Dakota W (After coming from behind last year to beat the Sioux i see SUU beating the North Dakota _____ soundly this year in Cedar City, 42-17)

UC-Davis W (SUU will win this game with an amazing air show from QB Cade Cooper as the Thunderbirds trounce the Aggies due to their poor recruiting, 35-17)

@ South Dakota W (After Noah Shepard and co. ran all over SUU last year i see my Thunderbirds winning at the last second in Vermillion, 24-21 OT)

EWU W (I possibly think this is one of if not the biggest game of the year for SUU. If we could beat the Eagles it would show our squad is legit and deserves a shot at an at large bid for the playoffs in 09, i see an air war with my Thunderbirds striking down the eagles and making their case for a Big Sky bid even stronger, 56-49)

@ San Diego W (The second trip to San Diego will be much more enjoyable as SUU rolls over San Diego, hopefully pursuading them to add schollies and joining the Great West, 38-20)

Final Record: 8-3

A very bold prediction for the 09 season if i do say so myself but i think it is very possible as our team this year is getting alot of hype. Lets see if we can pull it off!

I got news for you. With THAT schedule (and record), you aren't even ELIGIBLE for a playoff berth. Two FBS losses and three non-counters. Only leaves you with 5 possible counters.

You lost all cred with the bold statement. We beat them 27-7 last year. I will call 4-7 as well, but I don't think wins over GW and UTC would be flukes. Try again.

North Dakota & South Dakota are counters now. It won't matter, though, since SUU isn't going 8-3.
