"PSU loses QB, fullback for season"
Portland Oregonian by Jim Beseda September 4, 2007

Big blow for PSU - they lose 2 starters in the first week. Things are not getting any easier for Glanville. They should be ok at qb with White but it sounds like the cupboard is bare at fb.

Since the Vikings use the Run & Shoot, I'm surprised they even had a fullback.

An Ace Back usually amounts to a fullback given the pounding they take.

I was surprised they had a fullback, too. So, I went over to the PSU message board and posted a question about that. The response I got was essentially that PSU sees the fullback as a 6th offensive lineman who is back there to help block any defender who gets past the O-line and that if he sees he has no blocking responsibilities on a play then he becomes a potential receiver. A "typical" back is not seen as being big enough to handle the blocking aspect of that position, thus the fullback-type player. FWIW.
