#97 - not assigned... so I will give you a coach

Image

Jim Durning
Football
Football Strength & Conditioning Coach
Alma Mater: Marshall, 1992
Hometown: Wilmington, Del.

I go to grad school with one of his relatives, also a "Durning"
At JMU: In his ninth season directing the strength and conditioning program for the JMU football team... joined the JMU staff soon after Mickey Matthews' hiring as head coach... works exclusively with the football team and is among only a few individuals in similar positions in Division I-AA... works with JMU's players daily in a program to enhance their strength, speed, power, flexibility, balance and coordination... is assisted at JMU by former Dukes defensive lineman Brandon Beach and Justin Jones.

Before JMU: Worked as a graduate assistant in strength training at Marshall from 1994-96 and then was a strength coach at Georgia until joining the JMU staff... standout nose guard at Marshall for four seasons... led Marshall's 1991 Division I-AA finalist team in sacks and tackles for losses and was a captain on Marshall's 1992 national championship team... graduate assistant strength coach for Marshall's 1995 national finalist team, and Georgia appeared in two bowl games while he was a member of the staff there... played at Marshall and worked as a strength coach there and was a strength coach at Georgia while JMU coach Mickey Matthews coached in those programs.
Wonder if he had any influence on his relative going to Georgia? Jim and Mickey give me another reason to be a fan of UGA besides going her.

I thought Ben was moved to the OL this Spring?

Had a nice talk with him at the W&M/Towson game last Fall. His brother Mike just graduated from W&M, starting the last two years at OG.
