Thank god! That green concrete was horrible. Didn't the NCAA condemn it as unsafe?

No, that has always been a myth.

UND has the same turf so we aren't the only school. We will probably get new turf in 5-10 years, field turf in the Fargodome is going to be a very expensive endeavor though due to engineering. The large movable bleacher in the south endzone can't have any thing but the concrete floor under it in order to move.

Ouch - kind of a design flaw there.

I think it kind of takes away some homefield advantage for the Panthers.
But I suppose it is important to strive for player safety, and most of the visiting players don't know how to play safely on that style turf anymore.

And it'll hopefully cut down on all the whining that opposing teams and TV commentators do.

I'm not sure it'll get done by this fall, but it'll be nice if they can.

I'd bet it's ready for USD.

Yeah, it also meant that we had turf that was zippered together when the dome opened, that stuff was nasty. Our current turf probably isn't much softer but at least there aren't any seems.

If the turf is unsafe (and I am not saying that it is) it's a home field disadvantage since visiting teams only have to play there once a year. The home team plays 5 or 6 games there.

A visiting team only plays there once every other year making your point slightly stronger.

I suppose if it really is/was unsafe, then the home team would have a significantly higher injury rate than other teams that play on a "safe" field for all their home games.
I'm not aware of any such data. But then, I haven't done an official statistical analysis either.

Hope that NDSU gets with the program and gets decent turf. Idaho State has the same thing and i participated in several football camps there and that turf hurt like hell.

I was kind of partial to that turf. Sort of sad to see it go.
