Thank god! That green concrete was horrible. Didn't the NCAA condemn it as unsafe?DJH wrote:But I think UNI just made you guys the last school to have astro turf. It was announced today that the UNIdome will be getting new turf for next year.

We will probably get new turf in 5-10 years, field turf in the Fargodome is going to be a very expensive endeavor though due to engineering. The large movable bleacher in the south endzone can't have any thing but the concrete floor under it in order to move.
I'd bet it's ready for USD.JayJ79 wrote:I think it kind of takes away some homefield advantage for the Panthers.
But I suppose it is important to strive for player safety, and most of the visiting players don't know how to play safely on that style turf anymore.
And it'll hopefully cut down on all the whining that opposing teams and TV commentators do.
I'm not sure it'll get done by this fall, but it'll be nice if they can.

Ouch - kind of a design flaw there.
If the turf is unsafe (and I am not saying that it is) it's a home field disadvantage since visiting teams only have to play there once a year. The home team plays 5 or 6 games there.JayJ79 wrote:I think it kind of takes away some homefield advantage for the Panthers.

A visiting team only plays there once every other year making your point slightly stronger.BlueHen86 wrote:If the turf is unsafe (and I am not saying that it is) it's a home field disadvantage since visiting teams only have to play there once a year.
