Bowling Green to the FCS?

Could be a possibility, but it looks as though their President wants to bypass the FCS level and find a new home in the Division 2 ranks. They've pumped a lot of money into their stadium, so it would be a nice addition to the Missouri Valley Conf. if they were to choose the FCS level..

Thats crazy if they dropped to DII. I think the school would still lose money cause their fans would jump ship.

It's funny that FCS is never mentioned... I would think that would be best of both worlds.
Save some scholly money, remain D-I... pick up a rivalry with YSU...
I've got a couple of friends who are alums... I'll get their thoughts on this over the weekend.

I think they would drop football and a few other sports, and stay at the minimum before they went DII. It would make no sense. Like the article says Ashland and Central State are not these great peer schools.

From the article...
(In an e-mail Saturday morning, he said, that dropping football and moving to Division II were considered, but will not be implemented.)

I can't imagine the MVFC wanting to add another team that far east. I've heard a couple ADs hoping YSU would move on.

Just like it made sense to add on all the way out in the Dakota's...

relatively speaking the Dakota schools arent that far away...
these are road distances... not flight distances... Fargo (YSU) [SDSU]
Cedar Falls 450 mi (700) [353]
Springfield 793 mi (816) [626]
Normal 686 mi (500) [637]
Terre Haute 830 mi (420) [776]
Macomb 658 mi (612) [579]
Carbondale 935 mi (613) [775]
while fargo is further away in most accounts it's not by that much in aggregate and, Brookings is a wash. plus it's two schools for scheduling and puts 9 teams in the conference which means a full conference schedule...

I would really like to see YSU leave the conference, but hell it's a guaranteed win for UNI every year.
On average NDSU is barely over 100 more miles from the schools than YSU, I think it should average to about 725, 624, 610 ish. I don't know if those are right, but it was some quick math in my head with rounding and what not.

We came to the league before the Dakota's did and we have averaged the most fans at our games every year, with the exception of last year when NDSU averaged 18k to our 15k.

You're a lyin' featherplucker! That 15,000 wasn't asses in seats! If you guys avgd 2,000, I'd be shocked.
Don't count people who are not there.

Like Cap said, don't count tickets sold/alloted. How many people actually went to the games? I've heard mulitple reports that there was more more than 3K, if lucky, at the UNI game

At that game, no-one was there. The weather was terrible.
Here is a photo of a game in which we had 15,817 this past season. It was the Liberty game. The week before, we had a big crowd for the NDSU game.

Yet you list 15K+ for attendance for that game. This really makes me wonder just how accurate your numbers are for any game. I know for a fact UNI doesn't lie with their numbers

Why do you say that? We got two sides to the stadium. One side seats 16,500, the other side about 4,000.
We have a huge number of season ticket holders that purchase tix for all game. It is up to them to come or not come. All sports teams, including MLB teams, do this.

You list, per your athletic site (I will link/copy&past/screen shot or whatever), that the attendance for that game was over 15K. That number is then used to help figure average attendance and other things. Such a blatant lie makes me wonder about your other figures.
I know this happens at other places, but to be 13K off and still pass it off as true is just bad. I know for a fact UNI only puts down how many were in attendance, not how many tickets were sold.
I did some math. I took your numbers off your website, except for the UNI game. I put the UNI game at 2,500, as I have heard from many many places that is about what it was. Your average was just over 12K, not 15 K. Your highest attended game was liberty. Your "big" attendence for the NDSU game was 14331, which was only 188 more people than the Central St. game.

You got way too much time on your hands my friend. All of this to prove what???
We always have and always will outdraw UNI in attendance each and every year.

Don't forget that most FBS people consider FCS to be DII. I suspect he meant FCS.
I know of no institutions that report butts in the stadium. Every one I know of reports "sold" attendance. Not only does the larger number sound better, it is an easier number to come by.

UNI does butts in the seats.

If every FCS program averaged 12k or more in attendance for their home games, we would all be standing in some tall cotton, man!

I've made that quite clear already. Our attendance is not an issue. We get huge crowds when we are good, we get bad crowds when we play bad.
And want to talk about BS attendance, here you go:

I disagree with Clenz on this...
If you SELL the seat... you got the revenue... so it's kinda stfu on "inflated numbers"... you get paid whether the customer shows or not.
if its 29 degrees and sleet and slop... and my team is finishing up a 3-8 or 2-9 season... i'm probably not going... i'll try to pawn off the tickets on a buddy... but if i cant move it... oh well...

UNI fans don't know anything when it comes to weather and football.
They play in that concrete floored, purple seated, pUNI Dome!

lol
