- Best Performance: North Dakota 31, (#13) Tennessee Tech 6 - It wasn’t as lopsided as the final score would indicate (it was 10-6 after three quarters), but the Fighting Hawk defense dominated the game with 6 sacks, 6 forced turnovers, and 3 fourth-down stops (Lance Rucker had 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery).
Worst Performance: Harvard 7, (#12) Villanova 52 - The Crimson set a new standard for late-season collapses as they allowed 140 points in their last 3 games after giving up just 93 points in their first 8.
Most Surprising Result: Yale 43, (#15) Youngstown St. 42 - The final score by itself wasn’t real surprising, but to see an Ivy League team in their first-ever playoff game come back from 28 down in the second half to beat a Missouri Valley squad with 4 national titles in their trophy case on the road is shocking.
