The first week of conference play has arrived. The race is starting for the conference title. Everyone plays this weekend with no non conference games on the docket. Whatever the teams have figured out is what they will be come game time. That said, some good matchups are in store this first weekend. After going 9-1 for the week last week, I enter conference play with a respective 42-4 for the season. Here are my predictions for Big Sky conference first weekend.
CP at SAC---The Mustangs have looked like a decent FCS team this year, getting two impressive wins in nonconference play. How will it translate to the conference? The Hornets have a strong team and look forward to bringing in their brothers from the south. This could be interesting...SAC 31, CP 17.
ISU at UNC---Typically the Bengals have been hot and cold. They looked good in two money games at the FBS level, but that really has not translated into good showings against the FCS. The Bears, however, have looked like a good FCS team and got a good FCS win last week...UNC 21, ISU 17.
NAU at PSU---The Lumberjacks culminated their non-conference season with a good home win last week. They move into conference play but going on the road to the Northwest. The Vikings took last week off, so they had two weeks to prepare for conference play. As if that helps..NAU 35, PSU 10.
WSU at UCD---The Wildcats have looked better the last two weeks in non-conference play. How that will shake up for them in the conference season will show this weekend with a tough road test. The Aggies got a strong performance in their last game and hope to improve on it...UCD 27, WSU 24.
EWU at MSU---The Eagles got their high powered offense on track last weekend with a strong home win. They are hoping to continue to outscore opponents at the conference level. The Bobcats, however, got some good film for most of their players in a tight win at home...MSU 45, EWU 24.
UI at UM---The Little Brown Stein game. The Vandals twice came close to getting scalps in the non-conference schedule only to fall so close. They won't be intimidated heading into the Grizzlies' stadium where the Grizzlies got a strong win over a Missouri Valley opponent...UM 24, UI 21.
