Big Sky Predictions 9-20

The last full weekend of non-conference games in the Big Sky and everyone is participating except for Portland State. Eleven games on the docket this weekend, with one being a FBS money game and one hosting a DII opponent. I am currently at 32-3 for the season and am putting it on the line this weekend. Perfection is requested as it would get me off to a great start. Here are my predictions in the conference for this weekend.

CP at Stephen F Austin (FCS Southland)---The Mustangs already have two wins so far, including an FCS win in week 1, and they are actually looking like a decent FCS team. They move out to the Southland for a strong road test before the conference play next week. Can they steal a road win this weekend...Stephen F Austin 35, CP 21.

Lincoln, CA (DII) at ISU---Coming off a bye week and right before conference play begins, the Bengals bring in a traveling circus from the DII ranks for a game in their home dome. Will this be a suitable test for them before they jump in the middle of their conference slate?...ISU 56, Lincoln, CA 7.

Mercyhurst (FCS Northeast) at MSU---The Bobcats finally broke through and got a win last week after a couple rough outings against some top teams from both the FBS and FCS. They get another FCS team, this time from the other side of the country. Will they continue their winning ways this weekend...MSU 56, Mercyhurst 14.

Incarnate Word (FCS Southland) at NAU---The Lumberjacks withstood a tough road game last week for a strong win. They stay home this weekend, bringing in what should have been a great matchup nationally. Now it seems this game is just ho hum, but the Lumberjacks would like a win...NAU 38, Incarnate Word 24.

Central Arkansas (FCS United) at SAC---The Hornets have looked good so far in their non-conference slate of games. They have a game this weekend against a middling team from the United Conference at home that they would like a win before they start their conference games...SAC 31, Central Arkansas 24.

Southern Utah (FCS United) at UCD---The Aggies took last week off to prepare for their conference schedule. They now get to face the team that has been causing the most havoc against the Big Sky so far this season. If the Aggies are looking forward to their conference slate this could be tough...Southern Utah 31, UCD 27.

Butler (FCS Pioneer) at WSU---The Wildcats emerged from the Southland last week with a strong road win. They now return home, bringing in a Pioneer squad that is eager to knock the Wildcats off. Conference play starts next week but the Wildcats really would love this win...WSU 41, Butler 21.

Indiana State (FCS Missouri Valley) at UM---The Grizzlies needed a last minute come from behind touchdown to beat a Missouri Valley team last week. But this week is different, even though it is the same conference. The opponent is not a top team but a bottom team. That should be easier...UM 38, Indiana State 7.

UI at San Jose State (FBS Mountain West)---The Vandals have not been looking like the heavy FBS beaters they were last season. There is a chance for them to get this win, but it is a very slight chance. This could have been penciled in for a win in the preseason. But now that we are here...San Jose State 31, UI 21.

Western Illinois (FCS Ohio Valley) at EWU---This new Eagles team is resembling the old Eagles teams from the past. The defense can't seem to slow anyone down so the offense has to score a lot of points. That didn't bode well for them in the game last weekend. Will it work this week...EWU 45, Western Illinois 41.

UNC at Houston Christian (FCS Southland)---What to make of this new look Bears team? They still haven't won a game yet, but they have put a scare into everyone they've played, including themselves in Week 1. The last two games were quality opponents and they looked good. This game...UNC 24, Houston Christian 21.

Idaho 23-21 San Jose St. — The Spartans lost to Central Michigan; that's basically an FCS loss, right?

The Person Who Did It 17-37 WeberThe Bulldogs only beat their two non-DI opponents by a combined 19 points

Incarnate Word 24-38 NAUThis looked like a marquis matchup in the preseason, but the Cardinals have been disappointing thus far

Indiana St. 21-44 MontanaOnly showing up in the second half should be more than sufficient for the Griz to beat the Fightin' Larry Birds

Mercyhurst 10-38 Montana St.When was the last time an eastern team played back-to-back games against the Big Sky? :?:

NoCo 17-14 Houston Buddhist — The Bears have scored exactly 17 points in each of their first 3 games, so…
