Week 9 - Conference by Conference Breakdown

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Big Sky

EWU 35-47 PORTST
IDST 16-51 SAC
MTST 21-24 IDA
UCD 21-38 NAU
NOCO 0-40 UMT

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 18-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 12-7

Best Performance: (#9) Idaho 24, (#2) Montana St. 21 - In part due to their dominance of time of possession, the Vandals hold the Bobcats to a season-low (by far) 128 rushing yards.

Worst Performance: (#25) UC Davis 21, Northern Arizona 38 - The Aggies outgained NAU 476-289, but that was ruined by 4 turnovers—one of those was a fumble returned 90 yards for a TD by George Steele.

Most Surprising Result: (#25) UC Davis 21, Northern Arizona 38 - Davis gets star RB Lan Larison back, he runs for 101 yards, and they still lose to NAU by 17? :suspicious:

Southland

TAMUC 13-17 HCU
UIW 17-7 LAM
SEMO 35-31 NICH

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 7-25

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 3-15

Best Performance: (#8) Incarnate Word 17, Lamar 7 - Two missed field goals made this game closer than it should've been, but the Cardinals are still 7-1 heading into their de facto conference-title bout with Nicholls State.

Worst Performance: Texas A&M-Commerce 13, Houston Christian 17 - The Lions lose to a league foe they beat 31-3 last year.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

Missouri Valley

INST 33-36 UND (OT)
MUR 6-38 NDSU
SDKST 37-3 SDK
UNI 24-21 ILST
SIU 63-0 WIU
MIZST 28-44 YSU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 20-16

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 18-6

Best Performance: (#1) South Dakota St. 37, (#4) South Dakota 3 - The Jackrabbits outgain their top-5 rival 473-183 in the biggest statement win of the FCS season thus far.

Worst Performance: Western Illinois 0, (#11) Southern Illinois 63 - I don't care who you're playing; losing by 63 points at home is an unforgivable humiliation. :ohno:

Most Surprising Result: (#11) North Dakota 36, Indiana St. 33 (OT) - I guess getting the NDSU monkey off their back was all the Fighting Hawks cared about because they've played terrible the last 2 weeks. :?

UAC

EKU 34-30 UTU
ACU 14-52 SUU
TARL 25-23 UCA
UNA 39-49 AP

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 19-21

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 17-11

Best Performance: Tarleton St. 25, (#18) Central Arkansas 23 - The Texans move to 6-3 after getting 156 yards and 2 TDs on the ground from Kayvon Britten and a late two-point conversion stop by the defense.

Worst Performance: Abilene Christian 14, Southern Utah 52 - The Wildcats allow 308 yards rushing to an SUU team that was averaging just 98.4 ypg coming in. :?

Most Surprising Result: Southern Utah 52, Abilene Christian 14 - The T-Birds get their most lopsided DI win in 8 years.

Pioneer

MHEAD 11-17 USD
MARIST 14-49 STTHOM
STET 7-33 DRAKE
VALPO 7-17 BUT
PRESBY 28-45 DVDSN

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 12-20

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 1-16

Best Performance: St. Thomas 49, Marist 14 - The narrow 379-342 yardage advantage for the Tommies in this contest was misleading because they won yards-per-play 7.6-4.3.

Worst Performance: Marist 14, St. Thomas 49 - The Red Foxes run for just 52 yards, and they're averaging just 107.5 rushing ypg on the season.

Most Surprising Result: Marist 14, St. Thomas 49 - Marist was 4-1 in PFL play coming in, but it seems safe to say they're out of title contention now.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Least surprising result in the SoCon. ETSU 8-16 FUR

Furman seems to play up or down to the level of their competition. The good news is they win.

Davius Richard 352 yds has to be a obvious CAREER HIGH the Eagles established dominance over SCSU from the start.Buddy Pough is on his way out of Orangeburg and they are looking at Chennis Berry at D2 Benedict College as his successor.
