The Tribe defensive unit provided a number of big plays, as it registered six sacks and a pair of interceptions. Defensive tackle Bryan Jean-Pierre led the College with two of the six sacks, while linebacker Wes Steinman, defensive tackle Michael Stover, defensive tackle Sean Lissemore and sophomore defensive end Ravi Pradhanang also came up with one apiece. After making the move from running back to defensive back this spring, Ryan Woolfolk capped off a successful practice season with an interception. Brian Thompson earned the Tribe’s other interception.
Offensively, quarterback R.J. Archer wrapped up a solid spring season with an effective performance, as he completed 6-of-11 passes for 69 yards. Reserve quarterback Mike Callahan also was efficient and completed 9-of-13 passes for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while D.J. Mangas threw for 102 yards (6-of-16) and orchestrated a 15-play, 70-yard touchdown drive.
Like Archer, starting running back Jonathan Grimes saw limited reps but was effective, rushing for 12 yards on two carries and hauling in one catch for seven yards. Meltoya Jones led a host of other running backs who saw significant playing time, as he had six carries for 23 yards and a touchdown. Courtland Marriner rushed for 23 yards on five carries and caught two passes for 20 yards, while Terrence Riggins pulled in three receptions for 43 yards out of the backfield.
