NFL Draft - FCS

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

10 FCS Players taken.

2 - OT Cody Mauch, NDSU (Buccaneers)
3 - LB Marte Mapu, SAC (Patriots)
3 - TE Tucker Kraft, SDKST (Packers)
5 - OT Colby Sorsdal, W&M (Lions)
5 - DE BJ Thompson, SFA (Chiefs)
6 - WR Andrei Iosivas, PRINCE (Bengals)
6 - DE Titus Leo, WAG (Colts)
7 - DT Travis Bell, KENN (Bears)
7 - WR Colton Dowell, UTM (Titans)
7 - CB Isaiah Bolden, JSU (Patriots)

Mauch was not only the first FCS player taken, he was the first draftee to not come from a Power-5 school. :o

I'm not happy at all with these results. An outstanding NDSU fullback was left at #3 on the list of those remaining from Mel Kiper's original best list, and he was sitting there for quite awhile, largely because of his position which many NFL teams are stupidly phasing out, though a couple did pick up a couple of P5 fullbacks on a lark just because they're P5.

I'm highly p!$$ed, however, that nobody took Asher Freakin' O'Hara. Especially culpable in that is that idiot Jerry Jones, who I don't believe took ANY FCS players at all. Stupid. If an FCS player is running roughshod over everyone (namely Cooper Kupp), there's value to be found here, even if everyone thinks SH is crazy. It does NOT pay to ignore the FCS....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Josh Hayes, 4 years at NDSU, 1year at Kansas St was drafted in round 6 by Tampa. I think there was also Richmond transfer to somewhere that was drafted.

Said NDSU fullback was picked up as a UDFA by my Cowboys. That will be key as Mike McCarthy is for all intents and purposes running the show this year on offense, and he's going in a decidedly West Coast direction. I like that.

The Bills picked up Sac State kicker Kyle Sentkowski, who I was also hoping would go to the Cowboys after the problems they had last year with Brett Maher....

The transfer portal will probably keep that number low in the future too.

Dalton Kincaid 1st round San Diego to Utah
Myles Brooks from SFA to La Tech
Josh Hayes NDSU to KSU began at NDSU
Kobie Turner Richmond to Wake Forest
Brodric Martin UNA to WKU
Jalen Brooks Tarleton St to South Carolina

Was hoping that WR Shaq Davis of South Carolina St was going to be drafted congrats to Bolden.

If Iosivas had played with Fordham University and their pass happy scheme with his size of 6-3 210 and speed 4.45 he would have taken down the FCS CAREER NUMBERS of Cooper Kupp and been drafted much higher.
