MTST 72-28 CP
UCD 44-26 IDA
IDST 7-45 WEB
EWU 7-63 UMT
NAU 20-21 NOCO

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 18-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 13-5

Best Performance: UC Davis 44, (#15) Idaho 26 - Ulonzo Gilliam runs for 164 yards and 3 TDs to help rush the Aggies into the middle of the playoff conversation.

Worst Performance: Eastern Washington 7, (#16) Montana 63 - I hate to suggest a defense has quit on the season, but the Eagle D did allow a team not exactly known for their offense to score touchdowns on 9 of their first 11 drives (not counting a kneel-down to end the first half).

Most Surprising Result: UC Davis 44, (#15) Idaho 26 - The Aggies are playing better than most anybody right now, but they still have to close the season on the road against arguably the best team in the nation with a playoff berth probably on the line—if anyone can get in at 6-5, though, it's Davis.

Southland

MCNSE 21-10 HCU
LAM 14-51 NMSU

TAMUC 10-12 NICH

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 12-24

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-13

Best Performance: (#25) Southeastern Louisiana 23, Northwestern St. 7 - The Lions win a key conference game in comfortable fashion even though their offense took the second half off.

Worst Performance: Lamar 14, (FBS) New Mexico St. 51 - The Cardinals channel EWU and allow a crappy FBS team to score points on 7 of their first 8 offensive drives (again, not counting a kneel-down to end the half).

Most Surprising Result: Texas A&M-Commerce 10, Nicholls St. - The Lions still got 10 early points with starting QB Eric Rodriguez out, but they couldn't manage anything else over the final 46 minutes.

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 16-17

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 15-7

Best Performance: (#1) South Dakota St. 31, Illinois St. 7 - After spotting the Redbirds an early blocked-punt touchdown, the Jackrabbits didn't allow the ISU offense to get inside the 40 yard line.

Worst Performance: Western Illinois 0, Indiana St. 21 - Winless Willynois scores nothing against a team that was allowing 37.3 points-per-game coming in.

Most Surprising Result: Youngstown St. 22, Missouri St. 25 - Jaleel McLaughlin got his 3rd. 200-yard rushing game in the last month, but it wasn't enough to stop the Penguins from blowing their playoff chances.

Worst Performance: Tennessee St. 3, Tennessee-Martin 20 - After averaging 36 points-per-game in Weeks 6-8, the Tigers have scored a total of 6 points over the last 3 weeks. :?

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

  • NConf Record: 2-2

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 17-12

Best Performance: Abilene Christian 45, ("FBS") Sam Houston St. 28 - The Wildcats force 4 turnovers and greatly strengthen their playoff hopes.

Worst Performance: North Alabama 27, Tennessee Tech 35 - How do you go winless against DI competition when you have a running back that has scored 18 touchdowns and averages 147 yards-per-game? :suspicious:

Most Surprising Result: Eastern Kentucky 17, ("FBS") Jacksonville St. 42 - Jacksonville State's good, but this kind of performance definitely won't help the Colonels' postseason campaign.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Big Sky site says 302.5 ypg, but that's still awful (6.3 yards-per-carry is especially terrible).

And you're still correct that EWU is dead last nationally. :?

That’s from the NCAA stats site so I assume it applies to all games and the Big Sky is conference only. But that would be a huge rise from just 3 OOC games.

Big Sky site says 10 games, so that should be all games.

Also, the EWU stat page says the only time they've allowed 400+ on the ground this year was against Portland State.

You’re right. I was looking at total rushes by opponents versus ypg.

Still 40 yards more per game than 2nd worst but I feel better now. :)

Patriot League

COLG 33-36 LEH
LAF 10-45 FORD
BRY 29-36 HC
BUCK 24-21 GTOWN (OT)

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 12-22

    vs. FCS: 1-0
    Overall: 11-17

Best Performance: (#23) Fordham 45, Lafayette 10 - The Ram defense actually joins their offense in playing well as Fordham outgains Lafayette 613-180.

Worst Performance: Georgetown 21, Bucknell 24 (OT) - The Hoyas throw 3 picks and lose for the 15th. time in their last 18 conference games.

Most Surprising Result: (#5) Holy Cross 36, Bryant 29 - Kind of like SELU, the Crusaders slack off in the second half after taking a 22-0 lead at the break.

NEC

DUQ 14-51 SFPA
SHILL 28-34 LIU
SACHRT 38-28 WAG
MERR 20-14 CCSU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 9-21

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 5-12

Best Performance: St. Francis (PA) 51, Duquesne 14 - No letdown here for the Red Flash even though they've long since clinched the NEC auto-bid.

Worst Performance: Stonehill 28, Long Island 34 - The Skyhawks fall behind by 19 points and lose for the 4th. time in their last 5 games.

Most Surprising Result: Long Island 34, Stonehill 28 - After losing to Wagner and falling to 0-7, the Sharks switched to a freshman QB—Luca Stanzani—who has gone 60/88 for 913 yards with 8 TDs and just 1 INT over the last 3 games (all LIU wins).

CAA

MAINE 21-23 ALB
TOW 21-17 SBU
URI 28-31 UNH
RICH 21-13 UD
ELON 38-24 HAMP
NOVA 12-45 W&M

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 24-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 21-5

Best Performance: (#12) Richmond 21, (#17) Delaware 13 - The Spiders hold Nolan Henderson to just 196 yards on 37 attempts, pick off 2 of his passes, and effectively secure a playoff berth prior to their big showdown with William & Mary.

Worst Performance: Maine 21, Albany 23 - The Black Bears lose their 4th. in a row after allowing a decisive touchdown pass on the final play of the game.

Most Surprising Result: Villanova 12, (#8) William & Mary 45 - This result isn't all that surprising to us now, but who in September thought Villanova would be 5-5 and coming off back-to-back blowout losses to William & Mary and Towson? :suspicious:

Big South

RMU 9-27 MUR
BRY 29-36 HC
CHSO 10-20 NCAT
GWEBB 42-35 CAMP

  • NConf Record: 0-2

    vs. FCS: 0-2
    Overall: 5-17

Best Performance: Gardner-Webb 42, Campbell 35 - Bailey Fisher puts up 414 yards of total offense and 4 total touchdowns as the Bulldogs hold on to win the North Carolina East/West BBQ Bowl.

Worst Performance: Robert Morris 9, Murray St. 27 - The worst team in the Big South can only manage 166 total yards against the worst team in the OVC. :ohno:

Most Surprising Result: Bryant 29, (#5) Holy Cross 36 - Oddly enough, all 9 of Bryant's DI games have been decided by 14 points or less.

SoCon

VMI 16-34 WOFF
vul 0-66 CIT
FUR 23-13 MER
WCU 20-17 ETSU
SAM 35-24 UTC

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 14-12

    Overall: 11-4

Best Performance: (#10) Samford 35, (#11) Tennessee-Chattanooga 24 - Michael Hiers throws for 353 yards and accounts for all 5 Samford touchdowns as the Bulldogs clinch the SoCon auto-bid.

Worst Performance: VMI 16, Wofford 34 - This is actually the Keydets' closest loss of SoCon play thus far. :ohno:

Most Surprising Result: (#10) Samford 35, (#11) Tennessee-Chattanooga 24 - The Bulldogs end a 7-game losing streak to the Mocs and win in Chattanooga for the first time since 2008.

Pioneer League

DVDSN 14-31 USD
STET 0-23 STTHOM
BUT 24-27 DRAKE
MHEAD 27-49 DAY
VALP 45-24 MARIST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 14-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 1-17

Best Performance: San Diego 31, Davidson 14 - Hunter Nichols collects 12 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, and an interception as his Toreros finally stop looking like a shell of their former selves.

Worst Performance: Butler 24, Drake 27 - Despite a much better record, Butler loses the Battle of the Bulldogs for the 6th. straight time.

Most Surprising Result: Drake 27, Butler 24 - Confusing oddsmaking: every sportsbook I saw had 1-8 Drake favored by more than a touchdown against 7-2 Butler, and they were somehow correct on the winner (although Butler did cover). :?

Most Surprising Result: Delaware St. 7, Morgan St. 37 - On the plus side, DSU's final game against Campbell looks like a much better opportunity to clinch a winning season than it did this time a month ago.
