If NDSU finishes 9-2, they won't be an 8 seed, they will be a top 4 seed. I'm guessing 7-4 and a bubble team, unless the defense starts playing better. How does Delaware get to #4? Bluehens list to Bill and Mary head to head. Neither play New Hampshire. UNH wins out, they get the auto bid.

That sounds reasonable, Gil. At least your first point is reflected in the HERO Bracketology. I just don't see NDSU blowing it quite THAT bad, though. At least 8-3, and 9-2 does sound reasonable. I mean, NDSU has already played their biggest competition in the MVFC. I just don't see IL State or SIU having what it takes to beat NDSU, and the other two schools (0-7 WIU and North Dakota) aren't even worth talking about....

We'll see how the Illinois St game goes. Similar schedule to us so far. The last trip to SIU didn't go great either. Defense needs to show progress.

Austin Peay at SE Missouri State ---> 1 Sacramento State (Rationale: With win over Weber State, 11-0 with FBS win and 3 ranked FCS wins.)

HERO Bracketology 8.0

Seeds

1. Sacramento State (With win vs. UC Davis: 11-0 with FBS win, 4 FCS-ranked wins, Massey SOS #4.)
2. SD State (Week 12 BYE. 10-1 overall, 10-0 vs. FCS. 3 FCS-ranked wins, Massey SOS #5.)
3. MT State (With win vs. UM: 10-1 overall, 10-0 vs. FCS. 3 FCS-ranked wins, Massey SOS #15.)
4. ND State (With Week 12 win: 9-2 overall, 9-1 vs. FCS. Close losses to SD State, P5 Arizona. 1 FCS-ranked win, Massey SOS #21.)
5. Samford (With Week 12 win: 10-1 overall, 10-0 vs. FCS. 3 FCS-ranked wins. Massey SOS #18. NDSU seems to get nod due to name recognition.)
6. William & Mary (With win vs. Richmond: 10-1 overall with FBS win, 2 FCS-ranked wins, Massey SOS #50.)
7. Weber State (With win vs. NAU: 9-2 with 8 D-I wins. FBS win, 2 FCS-ranked wins, Massey SOS #12. The 8 D-I wins may drop WSU below 10-win teams despite the FBS win and strong SOS.)
8. Holy Cross (With Week 12 win: 11-0 with FBS win, 1 FCS-ranked win. Massey SOS #79 with unimpressive single-digit wins over Harvard, Lafayette, and Bryant, so HC may get jumped by Incarnate Word or Richmond.)

Auto-Bids

Atlantic Sun/WAC: Abilene Christian
Big Sky: Sacramento State (HERO thinks Sac has tiebreaker edge over MT State.)
Big South: NC A&T (Must beat Gardner-Webb, or auto-bid will go to Gardner-Webb.)
CAA: William & Mary
MVFC: SD State (Clinched)
NEC: St. Francis (PA) (Clinched)
OVC: SE Missouri State (Will be a coin flip between SEMO and TN-Martin if they both finish undefeated OVC play.)
Patriot: Holy Cross (Clinched)
Pioneer: Davidson (Must beat Dayton, or Dayton gets auto-bid.)
SoCon: Samford (Clinched)
Southland: SE Louisiana

At-Large Bids

MT State (seed)
ND State (seed)
Weber State (seed)
Incarnate Word (With win vs. Northwestern State: 10-1 overall, 9 D-I wins, FBS win, 0 FCS-ranked wins. Massey SOS #58.)
Elon (Week 12 BYE. 8-3 overall, 3 FCS-ranked wins.)
Richmond (With win vs. B&M: 9-2 overall, 3 FCS-ranked wins.)
Furman (With win vs. Wofford: 8-1 vs. FCS with 2 FCS-ranked wins.)
TN-Chattanooga (With win vs. W. Carolina: 8-2 vs. FCS with 1 FCS-ranked win.)
New Hampshire (With win vs. Maine: 8-2 vs. FCS with 1 FCS-ranked win over a projected playoff team.)
Delaware (With win vs. Villanova: 8-3 vs. D-I teams, FBS win, 0 FCS-ranked win, losses vs. 3 FCS-ranked teams. Would be CAA #5.)
Idaho (With win vs. ID State: 7-2 vs. FCS. 1 FCS-ranked win vs. projected playoff team.)
North Dakota (With win vs. ND State: 8-2 vs. FCS. 1 FCS-ranked win vs. projected playoff team. Massey SOS #2 should stand out vs. 7-win teams if UND loses to NDSU. Win vs. NDSU could gain a seed.)
Montana (With win vs. MT State: In with win vs. guaranteed seed. Loss: 7-4 vs. 9-2 Fordham. Neither have quality wins, both have quality losses. UM's quality losses are vs. Sac and Weber while starting QB was out; questionable vs. MT State. Massey SOS #16.

Busted Bubbles

Fordham (Massey SOS #78 may cause Committee to side with Montana despite two fewer wins. 9-2 snubs have happened as recently as 2017.)
UC Davis (In with Causeway win. Even with loss, 6-5 with 1 FCS-ranked win and 4 close FCS-ranked losses would give consideration.)
E. Kentucky (With win vs. Kennesaw State: 7-4 overall with FBS win, 1 FCS-ranked win. 1 full FBS loss, 2 FBS-transition losses (seen as FCS).)
Mercer (With win vs. Samford: 8 D-I wins. Out with loss due to 0 FCS-ranked wins and Massey SOS below UND, Idaho, and Montana.)
FL A&M (With Week 12 win: 8-2 D-I with FBS loss. Blowout FCS-ranked loss. Massey SOS #109.)
Rhode Island (With win vs. Albany: 7 D-I wins with 1 FCS-ranked win. CAA #6, and CAA unlikely to get 6.)
Youngstown State (With win vs. S. Illinois: 7 D-I wins, 0 FCS-ranked wins. Loss to struggling SWMOST.
Austin Peay (7-2 vs. FCS. Play Alabama Week 12. Win vs. bubble E. KY. Massey SOS #42. Must beat Tide, and even that might not be enough.)
TN-Martin (TN-Martin likely must win coin flip to get OVC auto-bid due to losses to unranked SWMOST and Kennesaw State. SEMO can get at-large if TN-Martin wins flip due to potential 9 D-I wins.)

Bracket

Abilene Christian at Incarnate Word ---> 1 Sacramento State
Delaware at St. Francis (PA) ---> 8 Holy Cross

Richmond at SE Louisiana ---> 4 ND State
Elon at NC A&T ---> 5 Samford

TN-Chattanooga at SE Missouri State ---> 2 SD State
Montana at North Dakota ---> 7 Weber State

Idaho at New Hampshire ---> 3 MT State
Furman at Davidson ---> 6 William & Mary

There are so many so I don’t remember who to attribute to but FAMU, Mercer are not likely and someone had Elon at 7-4 and they’ve spread y finished at 8-3. Richmond out is another unlikely scenario I saw.

It's unlikely Delaware is going to St. Francis either. I think Superhorny mixed up the home & away teams from Hero.

Doubtful, he said in the other thread that he believed if we lost to MSU, but made the playoffs, we'd be on the road, which just isn't true.

There's no pride lol, I just figured someone who's been following FCS for as long and as closely as SH would know that sort of stuff.

Not to mention it’s not exactly something to be proud of.
There's no pride lol, I just figured someone who's been following FCS for as long and as closely as SH would know that sort of stuff.
Superhorny is a good poster who marches to the beat of his own drummer. It's best to just smile and not get worked up over his quirks.

Lighten up Francis!

It's unlikely Delaware is going to St. Francis either. I think Superhorny mixed up the home & away teams from Hero.
Some outfits use a star to indicate home team. HERO doesn't mention anything about the bid process another poster mentioned for the first round. When the NCAA posts the official bracket, they generally use the star to indicate the home team. I think that's kind of a funky process because it means that a lesser team can get the nod simply by paying for it. That's not right, IMO. I'd much rather see the old quadrant system that's still kinda-sorta used in hoops, and seed each quadrant 1-6. 4 plays 5, and the winner goes to the 1, and 3 plays 5 with the winner going to the 2. That ensures proper matchups....

Yeah, I would love them to just seed the whole thing, but with cost constraints, they aren't gonna do it. It's absolutely true that we benefit from the current system, and teams that might be "more deserving" on paper often times get sent here, where we don't lose very often. If I weren't a Griz fan, I'd probably be upset, but being one, I can't say I hate it.

I think Fordham's off the bubble and safely in over both Montana and Delaware.

I'd argue with you about Montana if it weren't for the blowout today. The fact that UM and Delaware are from power conferences may help them, but Fordham's overall body of work will help them quite a bit....

Montana as it stands probably is the last team in; Delaware is out, as I see it.

It's hard to leave out a team that will finish in the top 20 (currently #14 in the coaches' poll) with the nation's No. 1 offense and Payton award finalist, playing in the nation's leading media market -- especially when its only two losses are to a top 6 team in that ridiculous overtime system by one point; and to an FBS conference champion by a touchdown. Fordham is in.

Someone posted to FB some compelling reasons the Griz should be in despite today's loss:

1. UC Davis currently losing to Sac.

2. 15 TN-Chattanooga lost.

3. 16 North Dakota lost (expected).

4. 19 Mercer lost.

5. 20 Delaware lost.

6. Of UM's 4 losses, all are to likely playoff teams (Idaho, Weber, Sac, MT State), of which 3 are possible seeds. Three of these losses were by a single score. Two of those games were led by a backup QB.

Sounds plausible to me....

I'm starting to think we're in tomorrow if UC Davis goes down.

Which sucks, because right after we lost, I was content with not being in, so I'll be pissed if we're not.
