Rocco looks a little like Rudy Giuliani.
Getting Mr. Ray-Ban back would be awesome.

Re: Delaware HC Danny Rocco Fired
You guys are right. Very few Super Bowl MVPs have done any sort of coaching. And only one has become a college HC: Doug Williams. Flacco would be an interesting choice at his alma mater. Just keep in mind, though, that outstanding QBs don't have a good track record as HCs. Examples include the Rams' Bob Waterfield (9-24-1 in three years leading the Rams) and Norm Van Brocklin (66-100-7 in 6 years leading MIN and 7 years leading ATL), both of whom would have been Super Bowl MVPs had the Super Bowl existed when they played and the first Super Bowl MVP himself, Bart Starr
(two winning seasons, one of which was a strike year, in 9 years leading the Packers, 52-76-3, with only two playoff games). Props to 89 for knowing this....
Super Bowl I-II: Bart Starr HC Packers, no college coaching
Super Bowl III: Joe Namath no coaching
Super Bowl IV: Len Dawson no coaching
Super Bowl V: Chuck Howley no coaching
Super Bowl VI: Roger Staubach no coaching
Super Bowl VII: Jake Scott no coaching
Super Bowl VIII: Larry Csonka no coaching

I'm not sure why this happened. Rocco was named AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year. for the Spring 2021 season. What happened in the interim?
The others were:
Region 2: Scott Wachenheim, VMI
Region 3: Dean Hood, Murray State
Region 4: Matt Entz, NDSU
Region 5: Jay Hill, Weber State

My point is that one bad season shouldn't be enough to can a coach, particularly that close to receiving a major award.GannonFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:06 pmUm, the Fall 2021 season happened in the interim.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:55 am I'm not sure why this happened. Of course, I'm biased because he used to coach at Liberty. LOL....

Re: Delaware HC Danny Rocco Fired
Not only that, but as nice as the spring success was, remember, you're talking about AFCA Region 1 here - last spring many teams just weren't playing, some were just using the spring season as an extended spring workout, and some were just going through the motions. And as the season progressed, some just up and quit on the spring. Rocco deserved credit for having his team ready, but there wasn't really a lot of competition either. And it couldn't overcome the fact that he hadn't really done anything else of note in his 5 years, with being given everything he asked for (facility improvements, bumped up salaries for him and all of his assistants, etc). And on top of everything his teams were boring and attendance was plummeting. Not a bad guy, just not a great coach.89Hen wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:18 pm5-7 the year before.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:15 pm My point is that one bad season shouldn't be enough to can a coach, particularly that close to receiving a major award.

Not a great coach, GF?
Playoffs 5x with two different teams, SFs 2x, QFs once, second round once. Ten-win seasons 3x (one of which was a snub year). Seven 8-win seasons. Conference title 7x (3x in CAA). Conference COY 5x (2x in CAA). I don't know what went wrong at Delaware, but those sound like good things to me. Particularly since much of that happened in the CAA, a tough league generally.

Re: Delaware HC Danny Rocco Fired
Pretty paltry playoff record - again, including the spring, not only with the abbreviated/not everyone playing regular season, but then the shorter playoffs and UD clearly got a favorable draw (Sacred Heart and Jacksonville St just to reach the semis, where they were dismissed easily by SDSU). Richmond folks said we'd win more than we'd lose with Rocco, and they were right. But they were also right that we wouldn't like him. Turns out they were right about that too. Stubborn as a mule and not terribly exciting. And the CAA isn't even all that tough anymore.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 1:54 pm Not a great coach, GF?

If you make it about Keeler being a flaming pussy it will add a lot more fuel to the fire.

Damn it. Thank you for the advice.
Keeler is a flaming pussy. Only bigger pussy is Clenz who cried in his Wheaties over UNI getting stomped by the worst D in FCS. It's okay.
