I've barely been paying attention to this spring season. Trying to predict anything or analyze teams with it—especially with almost no non-conference games—seems like a crap shoot.

Plus I wasn't even thinking, you're a Montana guy. If JMU wasn't in it, I wouldn't be paying as much attention.

I was looking to see when SHSU last lost a home playoff game. I can't find it. What I came up with. SHSU playoffs 19-11
Home: 13-0
#13 SHSU 34, #15 NAU 31 (2001)
#? SHSU 54, #? WKU 24 (2004)
#1 SHSU 31, #22 SBU 27(2011)
#1 SHSU 49, #7 Mt St 13 (2011)
#1 SHSU 31 #5 MT 28 (2011)
#5 SHSU 18, #12 Cal Poly 16 (2012)
#14 SHSU 51, #22 SUU 20 (2013)
#6 SHSU 42, #17 SUU 38 (2015)
#6 SHSU 48, Colgate 21 (2015)
#1 SHSU 41, #11 UTC 36 (2016)
#5 SHSU 54, #16 SDSU 42 (2017)
#5 SHSU 34, #18 KSU 27 (2017)
#4 SHSU 21, #10 Monmouth 15 (2020/21)
Away (6-9). Last 3 have gotten DESTROYED:
#1 JSU 62, #6 SHSU 10 (2015)
#5 JMU 65, #1 SHSU 7 (2016)
#2 NDSU 55, #5 SHSU 13 (2017)
Frisco (0-2):
#4 NDSU 17, #1 SHSU 6 (2011)
#1 NDSU 39, #5 SHSU 13 (2012)
That many home playoff games, and never lost.

Interesting note on UND (2019 playoff loss 1st round @ Nichols St)
-Has won 11 straight at home, 6 over ranked.
Going back to 2018 (UND's last season as a Big Sky member), excluding their 2018 P5 loss @ Washington:
Home: 12-1 (7-1 vs ranked). Last home loss was 2018 to then #4 Weber 35-30.
Away: 5-8 (1-4 vs ranked).
Clearly they are a MUCH better team at home in their dome. The contrast is striking.
Had 4 straight games cancelled, including a rescheduled one vs YSU. Haven’t played a road game since they lost @ NDSU 34-13 on March 20.

UD right down the field again, 14-0, 4+ min left 1st qtr.
Again, another overrated JSU seed.

3rd qtr
-SHSU took opening drive for TD.
-NDSU returns kick TD
-NDSU returns punt for TD and makes 2 point conversion.
Tied 17, early 4th.
Including blocked punt for safety, all 17 NDSU points scored by special teams. SHSU's sorry special teams reminds me of 2016 qtrfinal, when JMU blocked 2 SHSU punts, one for TD, and returned punt for TD.
NDSU offense has done nothing but turn the ball over 3x.

SHSU 24, NDSU 20, 3:44 left.
4th qtr:
-NDSU long drive (20 play/65 yds/9+ min), FG.
-SHSU drive, just scored TD.

Crazy seeing all these injuries and thinking these teams are going to have to turn around in 120 days and play ANOTHER season.

SHSU wins. Damn it, no home semis for JMU.
Take NDSU out of Fargo or Frisco, they're nothing special.

Well, this was a down team by NDSU standards. They were negative in the giveaway/takeaway stat by a lot this year and that's not typical of them. Also, as of last week, they were down to only 8 offensive linemen on the roster and were having to shuffle a lot. Don't know if they got anybody back but the offensive line was dinged.
Because it was spring they were having to play with a true freshman at quarterback in only his second start instead of Trey Lance. If you'd have had 2019 NDSU playing this Spring's Sam Houston State team they would've beaten the crap out of the Bearkats playing in Fargo, Huntsville, or anywhere else. Heck, if you'd have stuck Trey Lance in at the quarterback position this weekend I think they'd have won by double digits.
As it was it was very close even with the quarterback and thin offensive line situation. Yes special teams kept them in the game. But they also caught some bad breaks like that blocked punt weirdly taking a hard sideways bounce and getting out of the side of the endzone so they didn't get a TD. And they were up late in the 4th quarter in spite of being down 3-0 in the giveaway/takeaway stat.
