1R - Furman @ Austin Peay

To be blunt, Furman's been overrated in the polls all year. They've feasted with blowouts against weaker teams, but they have no notable victories. They also lost to The Citadel & Wofford by 17 points each (oddly larger margins than their 2 FBS losses). Perhaps more important, though, is that the Paladins are a run-heavy team, and Austin Peay has really good run D. Furman's passing efficiency rating is still solid, but they've proven they can't throw the ball when they have to. In fact, in their two SoCon losses, Paladin quarterbacks went a combined 18/55 for 142 yards and a pick (a 50.8 efficiency rating). If they can't complete some key dropback passes, I don't think Furman can beat the Governors.

Austin Peay is up 7-3, in a weather delay at 10:29 left in 2Q.

Apparently, Furman was struggling with their quarterback in the gun, but they've settled down now that the QB has moved under center....

Some extra curricular activity with 45 seconds left in the half, and unsportsmanlike conduct called on the offense.

And a 10-second runoff. Dumb rule....

Furman misses a 59-yard FG near the end of the first half.

Check that: it's 28-3 after a cashed-in fumble recovery.
3 touchdowns in the first ≈6:00 of the second half.

Not a surprising outcome.
Now I’ll go over to AGS and create a little angst

Austin Peay proved their stingy run-defense numbers weren't a fluke.

Saw a lot of this one. AP looks pretty athletic. I'd say they are most like EWU if I have to pick a BSC team to compare them to. Should be a good game in Sac next week.
