Pretty good slate of games this week. It's about time to start looking at the playoff possibilities.

I went with Villanova-JMU, although I wish they could both lose.

Funny. Same reason I went for YSU vs SDSU...

VU / JMU

UNI gets curb-stomped by the bi-sons. UNI has a good D that gives up too many big plays and an inconsistent O that won't be on the field long enough. UNI D gets worn down and the bi-sons blow the doors off the Fargo Great Wolf Lodge Dome in the 2nd half.

Cue Gil to tell us how NDSU isn't that good.

VU @ JMU. That’s not even a homer pick. Only game with I assume 2 top 5 teams. Both looking to bounce back from subpar wins on the road last week. Winner I think will be end up a top 3-4 seed..

I like JMU - a high school buddy teaches there, like UNI they're the former state teachers college and they wear purple and gold.

No. Just bad memories of the thug teams that Mickey Mathews fielded. And Nova is a bunch of whiny little bitches.

I think JMU rebounds to a big win this week.

Villanova is WAY WAY overrated at the moment. JMU wins by 20+ without breaking a sweat.

Nah. He always uses profanity to get to GT.
Delaware BS. Nova is 6-0 with wins over two ranked opponents. They are deserving.

Next Hen post will be about how weak the FCS is... but wait until Delaware gets a decent team. If Godot ever comes, all the sudden the FCS is tough again. Sad, sad story but it's true. I just shrug my shoulders and sit back and sigh. What can I do?

Nova-JMU vote here.

If the Hen fans thought they were any good, this forum would be very different right now. You know that.

Nova vs JMU

Even with Farley's plays that he saves for the Bison, NDSU should win by 20.

Bison are playing much better than I expected for what basically is a new team.

Wow. Sorry I worked your panties into a bunch. I've never used profanity in a response to Gangtackle unless you consider "insufferable douchebag" or "twat" to be profanity. Apparently the FCC doesn't, because Colbert, for instance, is a regular user of those. And you know full well GT's every bit that and more. He bashes UD constantly. The Delaware posters on AGS are too soft to call a spade a spade, but I'm an old Marine and I call things like I see them. I actually feel a little sad for him, because he has a glaringly obvious inferiority complex and obsession with Delaware football and our message board posters.

As far as Villanova goes, I swear to God I'm not trying to bait VU posters or inject any personal bias. I don't think your team is great, and I think JMU will beat you handily. I think JMU would beat Delaware handily as well.

I'm a fair evaluator of FCS games. There's a reason I always win the spread pool on GoHens and went 12-4 against the spread last Saturday. I've been over .500 versus the spread all six weeks this year, the only person out of all entrants. Not to brag. I'm just really good.

Sorry for the late response, I was busy changing clothes. Now that my underwear is hanging properly... ;)

Sounds like an honest opinion 93, misguided slightly though. Use those words to your boss, wife, waiter etc and see what kind of response it elicits. I am not here to argue the definition of profanity, but those seem profane to me. And, my honest opinion is that the Hen posters give it to GT just as much as he does them. This is just good fun for most of us.

I have no reason to doubt that you are good at picking games. But I hope you're wrong this time about the JMU/NOVA game. Hate to spend 8 hours driving to Harrisonburg and back to see the Cats beaten handily.

Thanks for your service.

Credit to you for actually attending. Nova fans don't usually travel that well.

You may as well add a little time and not make it all boring interstate on either the way down or back, as long as its daylight, especially with the fall foliage starting. Depending on where in the Philly area you're coming from and current traffic, you're GPS will either say:
1. PA Turnpike West to I81 south.
2. I95 to I495 west around DC to I66 West to I81 south. Boring and could hit DC traffic even Sat AM.
3. I95 to I695 around Baltimore to I70W to to US 340 south through Harpers Ferry to Hwy 7 west to I81 south at Winchester.

Rural/Scenic options which all would add maybe a 1/2 hr to hr, except for Skyline Drive, which could an an hr or 2:
1. Instead of I66W to I81 south, can pick up US 11, which parallels I81. Go through a bunch of valley towns like Newmarket over 50 some miles.
2. From I66 pick up US 340 south to US 211 or US 33.
3. If coming through Harpers Ferry stay on 340 south all the way to US 211 at Luray, and cut across to US 11 or I81 to Harrisonburg, or to US 33 and cut across straight into Harrisonburg.
4. From I66 take US 29 south to US 211 or US 33, cross the mountains, then same as above.
5. Can do the northern 3rd of Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park between I66 and US 211, or the middle 3rd between US 211 and US 33, or both. Each section is 30 some miles, and depending on how much you stopped, could add an hr or 2 each section.

If you do drive 211, watch for speedtraps..

If FAMU had it's pass happy attitude of the '90s their game vs SC St would break the scoreboard.

GAM: JMU -3; O/U 59; Mythical Score JMU 31-28

These are powerful football teams. When these prolific running games crash into the steel wall rushing defenses things could change. One or both may turn to the pass. If I were coaching JMU I would set up the powerful running game with the pass and come out throwing. JMU has a slight edge in passing and the Villanova passing defense may be just a little soft.

Who knows, it could just be a score fest. These are very good offenses.

ACTUAL SCORE: JMU 38-24

*****A WORD ABOUT THE GAM*****

This game is unusual. Villanova has the better power ranking .6439 vs. .7124. They are simply a very efficient football team that has scored almost as many points as JMU 237/247 on 300 fewer yards. They can score quickly, but probably not as quickly today.

The power ratio is a sensitive number indicating a minor upset made possible by JMUs stronger defense. JMU has a 1 point advantage on the offensive side of the ball. They have a 3 point advantage on the defensive side. All numbers were rounded to the whole and amount to JMU -3. Call it home field if you want.

5 DIMES: JMU -11; O/U 55.5 (When compared to the GAMS O/U looks like they are missing about 4 points belonging to Villanova bringing their spread to JMU -7. The other 4 in play are probably home field/strength of schedule.)
