This is another game with great written all over it.

DIRECT FROM GAM HEADQUARTERS:
PREDICTED WINNER: WVa Mountaineers -5
Over/Under: 59
Mythical Score: WVa 32 JMU 27
Last season the Mountaineers dismantled Youngstown State. You have to go back to 2016 FCS National Championship for JMU/YSU game won by JMU 28-14. The comparison doesn’t mean much but even at their best the Penguins couldn’t keep up with either team.

There is an obvious strength of schedule difference for these teams when comparing the numbers. A new adjustment was applied for the first time to total points scored/allowed and total yards gained/allowed.

I dont think JMU could achieve their numbers playing in the Big 12. They are a bottom half team in that league and WVa is a top half team. I do think JMU can win this game.

JMU is setting up for a successful year and could afford to lose this one. The Mountaineers are trying to avoid an upset. Their passing advantage may just see to that.

It should be a good game. I don’t expect JMU to get overwhelmed, in fact, I expect a good back'n forth barn burner.

5 Dimes: JMU +5.5 O/U even at 54.5
GAM: JMU +5.0 O/U even at 59.0

For the little game we play we pick: JMU to win for 1, not to cover (win by more than 5.5) for 1, the under for 1.

This one is an upset pick. Right now at 5 Dimes $100 will get you $170 if JMU wins outright. It takes $230 to get $100 if WVa wins outright.

2019 Sagarin

https://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/

W. VA. #36 78
JMU #90 63 JMU is a 15 pt underdog on neutral field

3dimes this morning JMU +7.5 O/U 54.5 Things change over there.

This would be a big win and an upset by JMU. Its in the cards if they can play their game against WVa.

Here at Milan Puskar..60k sellout. Family Weekend 1st game. They do things differently here in WV.

The females are dressed like its the 70-80s. Maybe that’s back in style. Or maybe its a WV thing.

Hope I don’t hear ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ the whole damn game.

Sorry for your loss.

Is your run defense really good, WVU's run offense really bad, or all of the above?

I could not believe that WVU threw on 3rd and 11 with 1:14 left and no JMU timeouts. That was nuts.

Wrong. WVU +3 in the TO and only wins by 7. Held WVU to 34 yds rushing & outgained them 328-294. Not very impressed with WVU. They’ll be hard pressed to go 6-6.

-Both, but more JMU’s defense gonna be really good (like 2017). Held WVU to 34 yds rushing. Only had 1 sack for -3, so it wasn’t that.
-Don’t know what WVU HC was thinking.

This game was eerily similar to SDSU @ Minnesota.
-Both SDSU & JMU had winnable P5 games that they could have won.
-Both outgained their P5 opponents
-Both shot themselves in the foot with multiple turnovers (each with a game changing bonehead INT under pressure). SDSU was pick 6. JMU was WVU TD few plays later.
-Both lost by 7.

From the JMU beat writer:
"Attendance for Saturday’s game at Milan Puskar Stadium was 61,891. It was the most for a home season-opener at West Virginia since the Mountaineers hosted Ohio State in 1998."

Was pretty cool at the end if the game a still nearly full stadium sang 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'. Of the I-A stadiums I've been to (VT, UVA, Maryland, UNC, NC St, Duke, ECU, WVU) definitely the best atmosphere.Like I said on the Week 1 Conference Breakdown thread, the big negative rep their fanbase has appeared to be undeserved
