Sac State: Sears Fired - Troy Taylor Hired

At least there is hope again, good riddance.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Director of Athletics Mark Orr announced today that Jody Sears will not return as Sacramento State's head football coach for the 2019 season.
The Hornets completed the 2018 season with a 2-8 overall record and an 0-7 mark in Big Sky Conference games.
Sears completed his five seasons at Sacramento State with a 20-35 overall record. He was named the Big Sky Co-Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading the team to a 7-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league games.
"Decisions like this are never easy," Orr said. "I would like to thank Coach Sears for his dedication to the student-athletes and the program over the last five years."
A national search for the next Sacramento State head coach will commence immediately.

Yup. Team was hit big with injuries, but most of those key players were still playing when the season ended (CP loss).
Sears had 3 2-win seasons out of his 5 at Sac. His first season was a 7 win season with Sperbeck's roster. He gets a lot of credit for his 2016 7 win season. The team truly played well (albeit against a weak ass schedule, but whatevs). But then this team pretty much no-showed for most of the season this year.
Go back to his days at weebs and 5 of his 7 HC years were 2-win seasons.
I'm just glad he is finally gone.

If they hired Farley they have a guaranteed loss every time they played Montana. Your stuck with him

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State Director of Athletics Mark Orr announced today that Troy Taylor will serve as the 11th head coach in school history. An introductory press conference will be scheduled for later this week.

I heard McClure was the other main target.
AD Mark Orr played FB at Cal when Taylor was a coach (or GA). Great hire.

AD Mark Orr played FB at Cal when Taylor was a coach (or GA). Great hire.
Taylor is shy with public relations but I can relate a rumor that Chris Peterson once said there were two offensive minds in football he wouldn't want to coach against...Beau Baldwin and Troy Taylor.
(Personally I would have said thermo nuclear war...and carnies.)

According to the Sac Bee, he got a 7 year deal.
