Last two years have seen the lowest number of I-AA players drafted COMBINED than any other year since 1993 (and probably beyond, but that's as far as my numbers go back). And 2013 was tied for lowest total as well.

1993 - 23
1994 - 25
1995 - 21
1996 - 30
1997 - 30
1998 - 20
1999 - 26
2000 - 28
2001 - 20
2002 - 18
2003 - 14
2004 - 15
2005 - 17
2006 - 16
2007 - 17
2008 - 24
2009 - 15
2010 - 19
2011 - 21
2012 - 15
2013 - 19
2014 - 19
2015 - 18*
2016 - 20
2017 - 15
2018 - 19
2019 - 14*
2020 - 6
2021 - 6*

*Includes grad transfers who went to the FBS in final season
*2020 Pro Days at colleges and universities & all the other cancelled pre draft scouting, workouts, interviews, & investigative stuff I bet hurt a lot of the FCS & Div II fringe late round prospects more than the FBS guys.

*2021 draft FCS no prior fall season, lost 100+ FCS transferred up the prior year due to Fall 2020 being cancelled.

2022 will be the 1st somewhat normal dfraft for FCS players since 2019. Will be interesting to see if back in double digits FCS drafted.

I guess they had half the players drafted then. That was copy and paste.

Looks that way ...

Trey Lance, NDZU
Dillon Radunz, NDZU
Spencer Brown, UNI
Ellerson Smith, UNI
Robert Rochell, UCA
Jabril Cox, NDZU via LSU
UNI had 2, that''s great. I was wrong, thought Cox was not listed.

My search found 5 and I added Cox because I guessed he was one of your 3.

I rememeber the buzz on the messageboards when NDSU moved up to I-AA. They won't dominate like D2, we go to Stateboro and blow out GSU, that was a bad GSU team, go to Minneapolis and beat the Gophers, Minnesota is a bad FBS team, go 10-1, beat Kansas, bad team and lucky, get votes in the polls, the Gateway conference will eat you up, go to the playoffs and lose to eventual champion EWU, lucky schedule, didn't belong in the playoffs, win a few championships, now we are too good for I-AA. Funny how the tide turns over the years.

I remember the buzz. NDZU proved them wrong. Good for them. Now they've overwhelmed the subdivision with their success and ruined it for a lot of fans. Congratulations.

Hopefully it isn't too long-lasting.

Thanks, it's been a great run, but will end some day. Never thought we would win this year, after last year. Never know when it's the last time. My parents enjoyed the first 4-5 titles before they passed. Mom passed during the Montana playoff game, Dad a month later after watching #5. Took my grandson to #9, and we went down on the field to celebrate after the game. Hopefully the Griz can get back there again some day.

I count 11 schools that outspend us in FB.

And JMU's 10.6 million budget.

I can only assume tuition costs have something to do with this.

NDSU
In-state: $10,168
Out-of-state: $14,471

UD
In-state: $15,020
Out-of-state: $36,880

About 25% of the Hens roster is out of state, I believe most of the Bizen's roster is out of state, so that's over $1,000,000 a year in tuition "costs".

Too bad JMU wasn't able to take advantage of their opportunity to be Wisconsin Whitewater.

They did what St Thomas did, change the scenery.

Might not be much different.
