Why would UMass being playing a non full scholly NEC team? Last I saw reported (couple seasons ago when JMU played CCSU) NEC teams were 46 scholly, and a I-AA team had to be 90% of the full 63 (57) to be a counter for bowl eligibility. So unless something has changed, Duquesne doesn't count towards 6 wins UMass needs to become bowl eligible.
