Truth be told, Sac State should have been in ahead of several teams
Including UNH and Furman.

It's run-oriented, but it also doesn't matter because Sac didn't make the playoffs.

The kind that won't gain a single yard this weekend.
(This is why I sometimes suspect you of simply being an amazing troll).

Wait, you didn't hear about the I-AA NIT?
Seeded strictly by SRS of highest 8 teams that didn't make the 24 team field (excluding 2 Celebration Bowl Participants & Yale).
#8 Sac State (7-4) @ #1 McNeese (9-2)
#5 UR (6-5) @ #4 YSU (6-5)
#7 Montana (7-4) @ #2 UD (7-4)
#6 ILSU (6-5) @ #3 EWU (7-4)
Austin Peay is still Woofed..

Used the current 1-8 seeds. 9-11 on how I think the committee would have done it with SBU, Weber & WIU. 13-24 went by SRS..
#1 JMU (11-0) hosting winner of #17 Elon (8-3) @ #16 USD (7-4)
#8 SUU (9-2) hosting winner of #24 Lehigh (5-6) @ #9 SBU (9-2)
#4 UCA (10-1) hosting winner of #20 Nichols St (8-3) @ #13 Kennesaw St (10-1)
#5 SDSU (9-2) hosting winner of #21 UNH (7-4) @ #12 Samford (8-3)
#2 NDSU (10-1) hosting winner of #18 NAU (7-4) @ #15 UNI (7-4)
#7 Wofford (9-2) hosting winner of #23 San Diego (9-2) @ 10 Weber St (9-2)
#3 JSU (10-1) hosting winner of #19 Monmouth (9-2) @ #14 Furman (7-4)
#6 SHSU (10-1) hosting winner of #22 CCSU (8-3) @ #11 WIU (8-3)

If the entire committee chosen field was seeded in order of SRS ranking:
#1 JMU (11-0) hosting winner of #17 Elon (8-3) @ #16 USD (7-4)
#8 WIU (8-3) hosting winner of #24 Lehigh (5-6) @ #9 SHSU (9-2)
#4 SUU (9-2) hosting winner of #20 Nichols St (8-3) @ #13 Furman (7-4)
#5 UCA (10-1) hosting winner of #21 UNH (7-4) @ #12 Kennesaw St (10-1)
#2 NDSU (10-1) hosting winner of #18 NAU (7-4) @ #15 Wofford (9-2)
#7 Weber St (9-2) hosting winner of #23 San Diego (9-2) @ 10 SBU (9-2)
#3 SDSU (9-2) hosting winner of #19 Monmouth (9-2) @ #14 UNI (7-4)
#6 JSU (10-1) hosting winner of #22 CCSU (8-3) @ #11 Samford (8-3)

That's a way better seeding based on SoS and quality wins.

Talking about the I-A playoffs on the JMU board and debating whether should expand to 8 or 16. A couple of people said I-AA should still be at 16. My reply:
Yep, 16 would work if there wasn't the rule that have to have at least as many at large as AQ. Here would have been the 16 team field:
MVFC:
NDSU (10-1/7-1) AQ
SDSU (9-2/6-2) At large
WIU (8-3/5-3) At Large
CAA:
JMU (11-0) AQ
SBU (9-2/7-1) At large
Elon (8-3/6-2) At Large
Big Sky:
SUU (9-2/7-1) AQ
Weber St (9-2/7-1) At Large
Southland:
UCA (10-1/9-0) AQ
SHSU (10-1/8-1) At Large
So Con:
Wofford (9-2/7-1) AQ
OVC:
JSU (10-1/8-0) AQ
Big South:
Kennesaw St (10-1/5-0) AQ
NEC:
CCSU (8-3/6-0) AQ
Patriot:
Lehigh (5-6/5-1) AQ
Pioneer:
San Diego (9-2/8-0) AQ
1st out: Samford (8-3/6-2) (7-3 vs Div I) (or switch Samford with Elon)
Likely bracket with the old field of 16, top 4 seeded, no 1st round rematches, most geographically compact:
Lehigh (5-6) @ #1 JMU (11-0) (271 miles)
CCSU (8-3) @ SBU (9-2) (71 miles)
WIU (8-3) @ #4 UCA (10-1)
SHSU (10-1) @ SUU (9-2)
San Diego (9-2) @ #2 NDSU (10-1)
Weber St (9-2) @ SDSU (9-2)
Kennesaw St (10-1) @ #3 JSU (10-1) (88 miles)
Elon (8-3) @ Wofford (9-2) (180 miles)
