Big Sky Predictions - Week 10

Weber 27-34 EWU — Red turf + Griz hangover = Weber loss
Portland St. 20-38 Cal Poly — The Walsh Winless Bowl goes to the team that's still playing hard
NoCo 17-31 Sac State — The second-straight NoCo game that no-one will be paying attention to
Davis 41-38 Idaho St. — Whoever wins, there should be a lot of passing yards
NoDak 17-30 Suutah — The T-Birds have had a tougher time with the bad Big Sky teams than with the good ones
NAU 27-24 Montana — Will Jensen play? Will Marks play? Will Stitt & Souers ballroom dance at midfield?
Kennesaw 21-35 Montana St. — Gregorak's option record is mixed, but MSU needs this much more than KSU does

Some 5-1 weeks and then a perfect 6-0 last week has got me to a respectful 53-16 for the year. Everyone plays this weekend, even Montana State who has a non-conference tilt with the Big South's leader, Kennesaw State. Some good games on tap this weekend. Here is my attempt at perfection again
Kennesaw State at MSU---Even with the non-conference game this weekend, the Bobcats still need to win out for a legitimate shot at the playoffs. This game, however, is far from a breather...MSU 28, Kennesaw State 25.
UND at SUU---The Hawks seem to have found their stride after last week on both sides, but they step up in the quality of opponent with a road game against the Thunderbirds, who have really come on lately...SUU 34, UND 14.
NAU at UM---The Lumberjacks, after their coach was basically given a no-confidence vote, have been looking strong, but they had into the unfriendly Grizzly den. The chic pick would be the Grizzlies, so...UM 32, NAU 27.
UNC at SAC---The Bears have to think that they've been playing pretty good, although their record does not show it. The Hornets have to think that they could be doing better, even with their record...SAC 35, UNC 22.
PSU at CP---What to say, the Vikings are winless and the Mustangs are winless. This has to be a record for two 0-fer teams going at it this late in the season in the conference. Toilet Bowl score...CP 3, PSU 0.
UCD at ISU---Both teams playing better than expected at the beginning of the year. The Aggies have looked good and so have the Bengals. This should be a good matchup, but take the home team...ISU 38, UCD 31.
WSU at EWU---The Wildcats have looked really good most of the year on both sides of the ball, yet they head out to the red Inferno which is the Eagles home. Eagles have been playing well, too, but...WSU 35, EWU 24.

Oh, come on, neither team has the defense to pull that off.

BBQ-EWU is a game that deserves to be a tie...simply because neither team deserves to lose at this late stage given the way they've been playing.
On the other hand, PSU-CP also deserves to be a tie...simply because both are so awful that neither deserves to win.
I also dislike how the bogus college OT serves merely to pad stats....
But I digress...
Kitties 35, Kennesaw State 17
Sioux 42, SUU 27
Griz 49, NAU 24
Sac 38, UNC 6
PSU 10, CP 2
Manure Pile 17, Bungles 14
BBQ 57, EWU 55, 4OT

Weber 30
EWU 24
This is going to be a good game, both teams are tough, its going to come down to who can make the most stops when it counts and not turnover the ball.
PSU 16
CP 20
Who cares, but if I have to pick one, CP will win.
MSU 35
Kennesaw 14
Why are these teams even playing each other?
SUU 35
ND 10
SUU should take this one if they keep playing soundly.
MU 14
NAU 35
Montana is on the ropes after being beaten down by Weber.
NutSac 20
UNC 12
Low scoring game with Sac squeeking out the win. UNC wont win but will try hard.
Davis 24
ISU 20
Davis should handle the Bagels but it will be close.

Weber State- 38
Eastern Washington- 35
Weber State's Trey Tuttle wins the game for Weber as time expires.
Portland State- 27
Cal Poly- 28
Portland State misses an extra point and is forced to go for two at the end and misses it.
Northern Colorado- 21
Sacramento State- 41
Northern Colorado is a horrid road team, but even if this game was in Greeley I'd still pick Sac.
UC Davis- 31
Idaho State- 40
Idaho State has played really well at home this year, Davis not so much on the road.
North Dakota- 10
Southern Utah- 28
The Score may not look impressive but this game is never in question.
Northern Arizona- 28
Montana- 31
Montana is playing for their playoff lives and NAU historically struggles in Missoula.
Kennesaw State- 24
Montana State- 28
Bobcats come from behind late to win.

WSU - Carries some momentum from the UM beatdown into Cheney.
CP - CP wins big.
Sac - Wins a game that will be closer than it should.
dungpilers - Every time I pick ISU they lose, so lets try it the other way around.
SUU - T-Birds win big.
NAU - Rolls to a big win on the road.
MSU - Because I don't know who/where Kennesaw is.

The CAA and Socon have the luxury of playing weaker but all DI OOC schedules against the PL, NEC, MEAC, and lesser extent, Big South. The Big Sky for the most part does not and tends to play tough home and homes against the Valley, multiple FBS games, and some DII fillers. This skews the rankings and can affect playoff seeding and at-large births.
The opportunity for a Big Sky team to host a 7-1 EC(b) squad is great for comparing disparate conferences and teams. The more matchups across different conferences from around the country, the better for the subdivision as a whole.

Yes, Judge Kennesaw Mountain Landis was the MLB commissioner who wrongly threw out the falsely accused Chicago baseball players who did NOT throw the World Series to my Cincinnati Reds in 1919. This was the subject of the great baseball film
Eight Men Out.

So, it turns out either Weber is pretty good or EWU ain't all that...and UM's 4th string QB is better than NAU's 2nd string QB...and MooYou found out Kennesaw State wasn't the patsie they thought they were getting...but they got another quality loss out of the deal, so there's that.

5-2 this week, 58-18 overall. I like it, I think.

This is right on, SUU has to win out and should handle Davis next week, but will be tested against NAU. Weber has a fairly easy 2 weeks left. I’m really glad MU won this week, this is really coming down to the home stretch for who wins the BSC. If SUU wins out do they share with Weber if they win out also? or does SUU win it outright because the of the head to head win? Buckle up folks!

Anyone who ties for first shares the title and can print the T-shirts. The tiebreakers determine the auto-bid. I figure anyone who ties for first will be in the playoffs regardless, though.

As a Weber fan I have to hope Weber wins out and SUU slips up @ Davis, Would love to see Weber win it outright but it's a long shot. Gonna be a huge Aggies (UC Davis variety) fan this weekend.
It's gonna be an intense fight to the finish.
