Icing the kicker is a huge gamble, I’ve seen that happen a few times and sometimes it works and sometimes it gives him a second chance and blows up in your face. Personally I wouldn’t do it because there is usually enough pressure on the kicker already that he may miss.JohnStOnge wrote:I watched the end of the NDSU/YSU game. I wonder if anybody has numbers on whether or not doing that thing where the coach calls time out right as the other team is about to snap for a field goal attempt is a good bet. YSU's coach screwed his team by doing that last night. NDSU missed the field goal in overtime but it didn't count because YSU's coach did that so NDSU's kicker got another shot and made good to end the game.
Also watched the end of the SFA/UCA game. Very painfall loss for SFA. They kicked a field goal to take the lead late. But then they gave up a big kickoff return to give UCA the short field and UCA made them pay.
I view icing the kicker like hitting on 16 in blackjack. You either always do it or never do it. No in between.Thundernuts wrote:Icing the kicker is a huge gamble, I’ve seen that happen a few times and sometimes it works and sometimes it gives him a second chance and blows up in your face. Not a surprise. Hornet D shutdown the Bengal run game and then teed off on Gueller. Dominating win by the Hornets.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Sac beats Idaho State 41-21
A 7-4 playoff appearance actually seems plausible. Sac won't beat NAU in the Skydome, but they should beat NoDak & Poly and Davis looks like a coin flip.SDHornet wrote:Not a surprise. Very favorable schedule the rest of the way...Sears might play his way into an extension.![]()
Yup. Knipp went down for UNC last week so that should be a win as well. CP is better than their record, that will be a tough game.Mvemjsunpx wrote:A 7-4 playoff appearance actually seems plausible. I'd like to know if there are any numbers on whether or not doing it makes it less likely that the kicker will make the field goal.SDHornet wrote:I view icing the kicker like hitting on 16 in blackjack. I think it depends on the kicker....JohnStOnge wrote:I'd like to know if there are any numbers on whether or not doing it makes it less likely that the kicker will make the field goal.SDHornet wrote: I view icing the kicker like hitting on 16 in blackjack.
