Like a number of schools, Jame Madison will be looking for a new QB this season...The Dukes might have gotten a preview of this years QB in the second half of their loss to Montana in the semi-final game...but a red-shirt freshman is saying wait a minute...
Junior Drew Dudzik, who played the second half of the Dukes’ Division I-AA semifinal loss to Montana last season, will compete with redshirt freshman Justin Thorpe for the starting job, a battle that coach Mickey Matthews says likely won’t be decided until the fall.
Dudzik had a great second half in the Montana game. Thorpe is going to have to be very good to beat him out.

Dudzik will be starting at the beginning of the season. Either way, Thorpe and Dudzik are good QBs and both would be able to lead the Dukes. Rodney was overdue for an injury the way the offense was run last year and I honestly though the Montana game was over when he went down. Drew showed a lot of leadership and balls coming in and keeping the Dukes in the game during the second half. If they're looking to run the same ol' offense, Dudziks style of QB play doesn't fit in that well... while Thorpe on the other hand kind of looks like Flanders Jr.

Spring practice has begun and the search for the new QB has begun. Much like the article says, I think JMU is in great position having two exceptionally talented QB options. Who knows who will garner the starting position, but I can only imagine Dudzik getting the opportunity to run the show at the start of the season.

Mickey is always fun. Dudzik and Thorpe are now both faster than Landers.

I see you caught that little nugget too. Dudzik showed that he had some great speed during the Montana game this year and from what I can see from Thorpe's videos, he seems to have some wheels on him too. Are they faster than a speeding Flanders though? We'll have to wait and see... either way, I hope the offense doesn't focus on them as much as it did on Rodney.

I always look for Mickey's nuggets, and he rarely disappoints.
I can't see the offense relying on either one the way they did on Rodney. He was a unique talent. The combination of speed, strength and decision making ability was rare indeed. I still view his performance against W&M last season as the finest ballhandling exhibition I've ever seen from a college QB.
