Are Mike Kramer's Days Numbered in Pocatello?

For the second time this offseason, Idaho State's offensive coordinator has left for what is essentially a demotion at another FCS school. 2016 OC Matt Troxel left to become the inside WRs coach at Montana in January, while his replacement, Rob Phenicie (who was also Montana's OC under Bobby Hauck), just left to become some sort of offensive assistant at Northern Iowa (link).

This could be more an example of Idaho State's struggles than specifically Kramer's, but it can't be good when you have two high-profile assistants bolting for lesser jobs in the same offseason.

Idk. Mike Kramer seems to have unprecedented respect in the Big Sky. I hope Idaho State goes in a new direction with a new HC.

He will be the OC at UNI. We are just being really stupid and "secretive" about the fucking staff due to all of the changes we had take place.

Nope, he can stay there as long as he wants, people that matter like him and the job hes doing. The ISU football program is more competitive under him than it has been in decades.

Granted I m just going off inside info from family and such but his job is possibly the safest in the BSC.

Idaho State (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop that head coach Mike Kramer is being let go after six seasons and a 18-50 mark, including a 2-9 record in 2016. More on the move here. Update>> Official word from the school in their release is that Kramer is retiring and former offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Rob Phenicie (who recently accepted a position at Northern Iowa as an offensive assistant), is returning to lead the program.

Is this fucking April Fools day?

With Phenicie turning his plane around, it's pretty obvious this was a firing & not really a retirement.

*UPDATE* - Colter Nuanez basically confirms this (link).

Colter is wrong, he was going to leave since last fall, there are severe health issues in his immediate family.

That's too bad. Mike turned around their academics. He's rough around the edges but I think a good dude. He's not the reason they suck.

This ended being rather ironic, since he did exactly the opposite when he was at MSU.
