There are 9 teams in the Big Sky Conf. right?
So for ex. Eastern plays 8 conference games a year with 3 non-conf games.. right?
lets say easterns schedule is the following:

week 1.UCLA<---money game
week 2.Fresno st.<---money game
week 3.Southern Utah<---home opener
week 4.ISU-conf
week 5.MSU-conf
week 6.UM-conf
week 7.NAU-conf
week 8.UNC-conf
week 9.CSUS-conf<---home coming
week 10.PSU-conf
week 11.WSU-conf

Since eastern would play 2 money game one reg non conf game and 8 conf game... whats preventing THE ENTIRE CONFERENCE from going to FBS? The schedule looks like any other mid major football team in the US!... right?

Only problems:

Most Big Sky schools don't meet the attendance (15,000) requirement
Most schools would have to add two more sports, plus the extra schollies to be completitive.

6 of the 9 schools have stadiums above 15k
ewu & unc could expaned. ISU would have to cheat... like the vandals do. or make the student section SRO.. like montana does.

and they COULD add cheap sports like tennis, golf, volleball & soccer...

Having the stadium DOESN'T QUALIFY YOU. Let me repeate that. Having a stadium that seats over 15,000 DOES NOT QUALIFY YOU FOR THE FBS


There are many requirements to meet FBS standards the biggest of which is schollies (sports) and actual attendance. A team needs to average over 15K a game for at least every other year to even apply for FBS. I'm not a EWU fan so I don't know what you draw a game, but I have a hard time imagining you draw Montana, App. State, NDSU, or even UNI like numbers.


There are some FBS schools that are in some real trouble of losing the FBS title because of the issue

Not that I know of. I've read multiple articles in the last couple months that still reference it. So unless they are missing something I don't think it has.

"Football Bowl Subdivision teams have to meet minimum attendance requirements (average 15,000 people in actual or paid attendance per home game), which must be met once in a rolling two-year period. NCAA Football Championship Subdivision teams do not need to meet minimum attendance requirements."

I want to say the attendance thing used to be "average 15K over 4 years" and is now once every other year more or less.

What you DONT REALIZE is these schools arent going to FCS! you are out of your mind if you think the NCAA is going to RE CLASSIFY Eastern michigan and the rest of these schools to FCS.

No Idaho didn't have their own stadium for that purpose but they did get by that by having an agreement with WSU to play their most of their home games at WSU's stadium whilst the Cougars were on the road. I went to a Griz game vs. Idaho at WSU's place. With the NCAA putting a hold on the moves I think it signifies that they are going to be more stringent with the move ups so I doubt it is a feasible option for the entire BSC but it's good discussion material.

The NCAA would be dumb to do it, but I wouldn't put it out of the relm of possiblity. They were also already FBS when those numbers happened. You won't get moved up without at least 15K, and I would be willing to move that number to 16K right now.

with the exception of Idaho of course! And even if some teams went fbs before the quota, i dont think its gonna be a grandfather clause kinda thing, it more of a warning to these shitty schools! "Make that attendance quota or else"!

But thats an empty threat bc Middle Tennessee State, EMU, San Jose State and a couple others have been waaay below that mark a couple *different* years. MTSU even had to start throwing concerts before/after their games to bring in enough fans!
