Indiana State University was established by the Indiana General Assembly on December 20, 1865 as the Indiana State Normal School in Terre Haute, as Terre Haute was the only community to offer land and money to the new school. As the State Normal School, its core mission was to educate elementary and high school teachers. The school awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1908. Master's degrees were granted in 1928.

In 1918, the Ball family purchased the property of the Muncie Normal Institute in Muncie, Indiana and donated the campus to the State of Indiana to be reopened as the State Normal School's Eastern branch. In 1929, the Indiana State Normal School was renamed the Indiana State Teachers College and the eastern branch was renamed the Ball State Teachers College. Both colleges were administered by the Indiana State Teachers College board of trustees until 1961, with the creation of the Ball State Teachers College board of trustees.

In 1965, the Indiana General Assembly renamed the Indiana State Teachers College "Indiana State University" in recognition of increased enrollment.

Yeah, but Bob, other than Youngstown State, I would never dog on a team that is down. It ain't sportin' like. They have some deep issues there in Terre Haute and I wish them all the best.

There success, or lack there of, isn't just a football thing.

I really hope they get it turned around and can get to be a middle of the pack MVFC team.

Not doggin, just sayin.

I have Savannah State here, and I don't dog em. I actually have felt sorry for them. They are making moves to get on track, but I don't think they are going to ever have the alumni/fan support to pull it out.

You have to feel sorry for any team with a 26 game losing streak. Taking it farther, they are 1-44 over the last four years. Things have to get better.
