NDSU is the favorite. But this is interesting.

To me, this is really close to UM vs UNI in that the key will be if EWU can get the best of the NDSU secondary. EWU O line is pretty young if I remember right, but they played well enough to beat WSU.

Maybe. Getting a split between NDSU/UNI would be great, though.

I'd be happy with that.

It will be a test for the NDSU youth in the defensive backfield. Chuck South found a weakness. Hope the D-Line can throw off the timing of the passing game, but it will be a battle.

I don't think they found a weakness, because it was the only option really. I can't think of any teams outside of UNI that are going to be able to run on NDSUs front seven, so that only leaves passing as the option.

Even then you better have great receivers AND keep pressure off the QB, as Montana found last year.

Hate to bet against NDSU but this match up is probably the best chance for somebody to beat them this year.

Starting to see where NDSTs dynasty comes from. Really good local refs

Holy shit...you are a clown. The push off for EWU's second touchdown should be a lesson on missed calls.

You got beat...you have NO defense.

Kudo's to Eastern Washington, great team with a great QB. From my perspective, NDSU lost focus on how to stop the Eagles once Kupp went out and EWU took advantage. With Kupp they were doing enough damage too, but when he went out, the game changed. Don't get me wrong, Kupp is a great player and will be playing on Sundays. He does have the Randy Moss skill of pushing off the DBack to get open, without being caught. The only group intimidated by the crowd was the Refs, they acted like it was their first game and had to ask the teacher/booth if they were making the correct call on every play. Game took over 4 hours due to reviews by the refs. Took away from a great game.

Bad calls worked both ways but that was the worst officiated game I've ever seen. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

I was looking forward to seeing whether the offense could still do it's thing even against the mighty herd and they didn't disappoint. Gubrud tore up that secondary and another star might have been born in WR Stu Stiles. But you can't turn it over 3 times (including another late pick 6 like last year at UNI), miss an extra point, and expect to win against a team like that. Especially in their house.

The "improving" defense gives up over 500 yards again and 50 points. Yes we "appear" better than in previous years, getting some stops, tackling better, etc but the stats don't lie. And we got zero takeaways. Being down both starting linebackers and one defensive tackle didn't help either. We've lost one starting linebacker for the year now, Kupp is out, and we lost an olineman.

But injuries, like bad officiating, are just excuses you've got to be better than.

Hats off to your Bison, Gil. I'm sure the faithful didn't care for tempo of the game and all the scoring, but great teams figure out ways to win in all types of games.

Hope we get another crack at ya again this year. :thumb:

The committee game NDSU and Montana a rematch last year, another game could be in the cards, and Frisco would be a great place to showcase it. These schools have played 2 games and both were exciting and both went into OT.

I didn't watch much of it but tuned in long enough to see EWU's star receiver get away with a really blatant offensive interference infraction on (I think) EWU's second TD. I do subscribe to the belief that there is this subconscious thing where officials let "star" players get away with stuff other players wouldn't get away with.

MAN that was an obvious infraction. And you guys know what I'm talking about if you watched the game.

I think they called it something like a "veteran" play. Look, it doesn't take a veteran to take both hands and push the defender away in the back like that. It just takes having officials who will let that go. That was not like some kind of sophisticated veteran play such that he was "good enough" to do it in such a way that the officials wouldn't see it. If the officials didn't see that they were blind.

I'd like to see the video, but on the replay Kupp's arms were extended as I he timed the jump but it looked like there was very little if any contact and he didn't move or change the defenders position.

If he did, it's something great receivers do. :coffee:

If you watch the ESPN3 video you will not only see it but you will hear the guys calling the game discuss it. I don't know if it's something great receivers do. But I do think it's something people who have reputations as great receivers are more likely to get away with.

And yes he did change the defender's position. Very obviously.

You could call it either way, but it's not nearly as "blatant" as you make it out to be. 5:00 minute mark.

Then why did NDSU have 137 + yards of penalties and EWU had less?

The slow motion video they showed in the Fargodome, it was obvious the defensive players jump angle was changed by the push. It's a skill to be able to do that in real time and not get caught. I went and looked at the video from JSO, and it's pretty obvious in that video. I'm not complaining, just commentating on what I see. That play got some of the loudest boo's of the day. The refs were bad both ways.
