Charleston Southern - 2 separate announcements

First announcement: The university has suspended Jamey Chadwell for October 8 and an unnamed assistant coach for September 10, both for a recruiting-related violation.
Second announcement: The university is currently investigating possible NCAA rules violations. They are working with the NCAA, the Big South and an outside consultant. They are also temporarily withdrawing several student-athletes from competition.

Charleston Southern has suspended head football coach Jamey Chadwell and an assistant coach in response to a Secondary/Level III NCAA recruiting violation, the school announced Thursday night.
Chadwell will serve his suspension during the home game against Albany State on Oct. 8. The assistant coach, who was not identified in the school’s release, has been suspended for the Florida State game on Sept. 10.
The violation, which was discovered during an internal school investigation, is a result of an impermissible social media contact with prospective student-athletes.

Based on how much they've spent on facilities, I'm guessing they don't dedicate much to compliance. That's what hit EWU under Wulff. Nothing malicious but without at least a full time compliance officer or better yet a dedicated office and staff, you're going to break some rules.

I have read before that the average person breaks over 20 laws a day unknowingly. Having said that, Griz you are right. In this day and age where principles and values mean so very little to society, it is sad when someone steps up and takes responsibility for a mistake gets even further scrutiny because, of course, if they are reporting this one, how many more violations are they not reporting.

Not too worried. It was self reported for one. It was social media contact outside the permitted time or something. Nothing awful like $$$ or bookers haha. No biggie. Heck and if it is maybe it cause other programs to shy away from Chadwell and we keep him longer!!

Northern Colorado's basketball team self-reported and fired their coach & got no punishment. Same for NAU basketball when they fired Mike Adras in 2011.

Northern Colorado's basketball team self-reported and fired their coach & got no punishment. Same for NAU basketball when they fired Mike Adras in 2011.

Sounds like precautions to be sure they don't get the punishment during conference play. I'm not worried about it
