Crap (Redemption!)

I think it's possible McNeese defensive tackle Isaiah Golden was the best football player in the Southland Conference last year. Possibly the top future NFL prospect in the league. A 320 pound defensive tackle who started 6 games as a freshman at Texas A&M then got in trouble. I think he was a huge factor in McNeese being 4th in FCS rushing defense (and 1st in rushing defense among playoff participant league teams) last year. I don't think any offensive lineman in the conference could handle him one on one. When teams played McNeese they had to devote multiple people to him and that changed everything.
But it looks like he's gone for next year at the least:

I can only hope that they give him probation after the 120 days so he can at least play the NEXT year. Maybe it's possible he can play at least in the latter part of this year if he can somehow do what he needs to do academically. But this is disappointing. I knew he had gotten into trouble but I didn't realize it was this serious. This is probably the best defensive lineman McNeese has ever had.

Yes, he is.
Remember, he is rooting for Hillary to get away with a crime.

Listen, glass house dwelling previous two posters: kids make mistakes.
Haven't we all, at some point in our cocaine kingpin days, decided to rob one of our clients at gunpoint? I know I did a few times. Doesn't make me a bad person. A wise man once said, life ain't nuttin' but bitches and money.

How in the hell could you exude his criminal behavior? Because your favorite football team may benefit?
I'd say you're a bad judge of character, but we already know that from your fawning over Clinton.

He should be in prison. Not a football field.

If your team had a defensive tackle like this guy is you'd want him to play.

That's why I say the whole Sandusky thing was worth it. Did you see that 86 Penn State defense?
Little buttholes heal, but that season will last forever.

After he was just sentenced to double-digit years in prison? Um… no.

Fuck no. I wanted a WR kicked off UNIs team back in 2011 after he got arrested for 2 disorderly conducts in an 11 month span for fighting outside an apartment complex.
He's been one of the better CFL WRs the last few years and is on an NFL roster right now.

Uh, no.
You see, most of us have standards.
You don't. <------ That has become very apparent lately.
You have lost your moral center.

Of course. However, he broke the law. I find it fascinating that you feel a football game takes precedence over justice. I find it fascinating that you'd be defending a thug like this.
I don't find myself agreeing with Cluck that often, but he's right. You've lost it.

Obviously he was just going along with the other guy involved. He's not a thug. He just got involved with the wrong crowd. And he was probably the best defensive tackle in FCS last year. Yes I know that wasn't reflected in the All America teams. But he probably was.
“Coach Sumlin just talked about some of the reasons why (Golden) was dismissed that we already knew about,” Michel said. “But he said he’s a great player. Likeable kid. He made some mistakes at a younger age, and I think he’s learned from them.
“He’s just glad to be playing ball and going to school and living a college life. And again, I think he matured greatly as far as when we’ve had him. The small setting has helped him. People like him, and it’s been good for him.”
For Cowboys opponents, though, not so much. Last Saturday’s debut at LSU wound up getting cut short, and ultimately canceled, by storms. But just as Mother Nature unleashed fresh lightning, Golden was getting all jacked up to unleash fresh hell.
“In the limited plays against LSU,” Michel said, laughing again, “I think their center knew he was going to have his hands full the whole night, based on one series.”
You should be pulling for him.

Anyone know JSO's handle over at AGS? Haven't been there for a while, but it would be fun to see if he pulls the same stunts over there.

It's the same as it is here. It's just that I don't go there anymore. I quit going there years ago when they kept banning people. Like they banned Capn' Cat and D1B. They did not ban me. However, when I saw that there is a FCS community site that provides for more freedom of expression, here, I quit going there and started coming here.
I went there a few times some time back when this site was down for some reason. But as long as this site is available I have no desire to go there. This site provides for more open and honest discussion.

He's an inspirational story. A young man turning his life around. That sort of thing.
Plus he's a starting caliber SEC tackle. He's not like what Jacksonville State had where there were guys who weren't going to get playing time at SEC schools so they transferred to Jacksonville State. This guy started at defensive tackle in the SEC as a freshman and he weighs 335 pounds. He was going to get plenty of playing time had he not screwed up.
Of COURSE I want him to play. And obviously he's a naive young man who got in trouble because that Texas A&M linebacker led him astray.
