A lot of guys (OL especially) are not practicing right now. Per usual during the spring, a lot of special teams emphasis, and getting some of our 2 deeps/3 deeps reps. Only thing I have heard that I don't like, is there is not the team chemistry we have had for the past 2 years (ahem class of '08). I am positive still about this year, but I am also a little wary. I hope they can get it together and realize they are all brothers at war, and not out for personal egos.
I am just going by word of mouth, no real updates over on vusports either. Only thing I can get is from friends that are still there. Seems like this offseason was shoulder surgery central too.

So tell me, wideright: will Villanova get more fans at its '09 spring game or its '09 homecoming?

Why the sudden problem with team chemistry? Maybe it's just because it's spring ball. Were there a lot of losses with new guys coming in that just aren't gelling right now? If any team has the bulk of the O Line and a senior QB coming back then I give em' the nod to be better than last year no matter how young the rest of the team may be. How about those areas for Villanilla?

It's funny but for some reason the senior class that Dave Dalessandro was in seemed to be some sort of glue. Not very good at football, but glue nonetheless. We have our entire OL returning, with the exception of Izzy Bauta (who can be replaced). QB we have whitney and Young returning, our starting and back up running back. We lose two receievers, but they are made up for in two sophomores, but there are underlying problems. They have issues right now that they HAVE to work out by fall or you will see a 7-4 season out of the Wildcats. When I was there we were all brothers (I was in Daves class), senior night was emotional for everyone on the team, not just the seniors. Now people are at odds again, like it was when I was a frosh (preseason 2 in the nation, loss to JMU in monsoon, their NC year, we all know it), there is a riff in the team, they are segregated. i don't know, I hope I am wrong.

mmmmmm, Dalessandro's.... (mouth watering)
What's the problem though? Why can't these kids get along? Is it lack of leadership, some Dbags in the locker room, people realizing that no one cares unless its basketball?

Well the reason I said my beliefs on the returning QB, and the O line is that they drive the team more than any other group. If there is chemistry problems a good solid group that is together on the O Line will usually take the leadership role and show how the chemistry works by example and intimidation if necessary. It's early and with a solid returning line I would be optimistic if I were in your shoes. They gotta step up and run the show however. I'm just saying shit that everybody already knows though.

Team chemistry is underrated as a factor in performance. Football is the ultimate team sport, and strong leadership is crucial to being the best they can be. That being said, if Villanova has adequate leadership, most of us in the CAA see them as the team to beat next Fall.

Yeah Ursus, we have a solid bunch at OL. They are a tight nit group usually, and this year I think will be our shining group. Hopefully, as Tribe said, we will be the team to beat, but all will fall short.
