NDSU stacks the box to stop the run. UNI passing game is lame. They fall behind early and switch to Kollmorgan. After a brief glimmer of hope, it falls apart due to relentless pressure.

NDSU 27 UNI 9

Kollmorgen has been out...for good...for 7 weeks...

Bailey is completing 57% of his passes over that time.

Both he and Tyvis Smith are averaging over 100 yards per game rushing over that time frame.

NDSU still wins, but it's close.

Nice stats, but they don't mean shit. UNI's passing game is no where near as good as Montana's and looked what happened to them.

UNI's pass game was worse than it is now when the two met the first time. Hell, the offense, in general, was significantly worse.

UNI threw for 150 and managed to average 7.3 yards per carry that day

The key will be stopping the QB from breaking the big run. Slobberknocker, close game.

Whoever throws the most passes loses? Seriously, though, with NDSU QB Carson Wentz (likely) out, both of these teams are playing somewhat similar, conservative, run-heavy offenses right now. This should favor Northern Iowa, despite the fact they're on the road. The Panthers' run defense is really good, and it's so good that the Bison will likely have to get several decently long completions to win this. Carson Wentz was the reason NDSU won the first time around, & he probably isn't available. Because of that, I like the Unies to pull the upset in a game with little—if any—sustained offense.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Northern Iowa

        Running Backs - (push)

        Receivers/TEs - North Dakota St.

Offensive Line - North Dakota St.

        Defensive Line - Northern Iowa

        Linebackers --- Northern Iowa

        Secondary ---- North Dakota St.

        Kicking ------ Northern Iowa

        Punting ------ North Dakota St.

Return Teams - North Dakota St.

        Kickoffs ------ North Dakota St.

        • Northern Iowa 16-13 North Dakota St.

No way I'd change from the traditional helmet like that after not losing a playoff game wearing it for over four years. No way.

Richmond fan here. Great game so far. The winner of this game is the odds on favorite to win the whole thing.

The MVFC is the class conference of college football. These are two class teams. This is a great game.

Brain dead penalty set that up. UNI may as well have thrown a pick.

The fair catch call was early and quick so I can see how it was missed but still a dumb mistake.

Any little mistake can cost each team. NDSU is fortunate that NIU only scored a FG.

This thing is a dogfight. Very close game and very closely matched teams. I would expect only good football from these 2 teams.

At 210 left in 1st H, it sure looked like pass interference on NDst.

UNI's defense doesn't use a timeout on third & long. Probably a mistake.

Mark Farley must be putting his timeouts into a 401k. :?

Richmond and J-State both looked REAL good yesterday...don't go crowning NDSU or UNI yet...

You've got one job UNI. Don't cock it up.
