As we all know, teams in the Big Sky don't play defense. Somehow despite that, all three finalists for the Buchanan award come from the Big Sky.

Surprised to see Onwuasor on there despite his interception numbers. Think he'll send a portion of the trophy to Makena Simis?

Yeah, and on a related note, the HBCU teams send a lot of people to the NFL.
Speaking of which...the announcers kept saying SUU had a good defense and that 3 players on that defense would be drafted.
42 points later...

Conferences where offense is actually played tend to pad defensive stats.

No. Portland State & Montana each have players on there.

Weber State was #1 in total defense

Narrowly #1 in total defense ≠ Best defense in the conference.
Weber's defense was much improved, but total D & redzone D were the only stats they led the conference in. Scoring D was 4th., and their takeaway numbers were noticeably behind the 3 playoff teams.

I wish MSU would have avoided more people....Or maybe our Defense would have tried not to avoid people.
