Montana @ NDSU, the Rubber Match

All-Time series is 4-4. Montana has their QB back for this game and it doesn't look like NDSU will have it's QB back. NDSU's defense is better, but is it good enough to stop the Griz this time. NDSU's offense relies more on the run, will they be running right into the Griz stength? Should be an interesting game, and I would give the Griz a slight advantage in this one.

Good rematch!! This one and Citadel @ CSU are two very juicy rematches that should be fun.

With Wentz likely out, it's worth noting that Montana has the best run defense NDSU has seen since he got hurt. On the other hand… Jordan Champion couldn't possibly have a worse game here than he had in Missoula, can he?

Champion had a very tough time in Missoula. The defensive backfield will have to step up, and Easton Stick will have to pass to win.

This ain't the NDSU of years past. Still very good, but not untouchable.

It's the 4 time defending champs at home. We're not the favorite.

I like NDSU. Er, I mean, I don't like NDSU, but I think they win this game. 27-21 Buffaloes

Unless your defense has gotten soft since the first game, I think it could be more and the end of a nice run............................until the Bison start another run next year with a lot of young players getting experience this year.

True. But if the team from the first half yesterday shows up for the whole game, I like our chances.

well, rumor is that our best LB broke his arm during the SDSU game and is out.

Speaking of rubber match...this game should probably be sponsored by Trojan because NDSU will probably have their way with Montana.

So much butt hurt in you.
It took a miracle for the Griz to win by 3 in the cozy confines of Grizzyworld.
This time the game is at NDSU.
Big difference.
And, you got outscored 17-0 in the second half of Saturday's game.
No reason to believe the Griz will survive.
I'll actually be rooting for you guys...but I don't think you'll win. I think NDSU will grind you down with their run game while their D and the noise will force your QB into turnovers.

NDSU doesn't have their all-world QB. Their "new" guy beat the #'s 10, 9, 8, 6 & 5 teams in the conference. Real powerhouses. We got outscored 17-0 AFTER we'd outscored them 24-0 in the firs thalf. That game was never in doubt. Don't bet the house, cluck.

BTW, The Griz were 15 point dogs against NDSU---IN the cozy confines of Grizzlyworld. That game wasn't supposed to even be close....was supposed to be a coronation for the "One for the thumb" campaign....here's to the Griz putting the final nail in THAT coffin this weekend.

Hey, I'm with you...I want the NDSU party to end.
Go Griz!

YSU and WIU rush defense both above Montana.
No, Champion wont. He got exposed, but thats the only time Ive seen him get lit up. The defense has obviously improved. Champion was put into the top CB spot, with a frosh at the other CB spot, a frosh/first year starting Jr/first year starting soph/soph converting from CB all splitting time at the safety spots. Not to mention two first year starters at the OLB spots. Still give up some big plays from time to time but the young defense has settled in for the most part. Still struggle with consistency in tackling at times, which is a problem with Montanas type of offense, but will do a better job then back in August. CJ Smith playing is big, he was out first game. The backers are making more plays too. No doubt Montana will make some plays and will likely have several big plays and a big td or 2. I think it will be a game in the 20s.

UMT - 3.9 ypc
YSU - 4.2 ypc
WIU - 4.2 ypc

Stick did not play against SDSU, the #5 team in the conference. He played against WIU, the #3 team in the conference and won convincingly.

Oh, statistics...yes, those usually translate accurately.
The Griz gave up 229 yards rushing last time these two teams met...in Grizzyworld. That is slightly less than NDSU's season average, so it isn't as though the Griz run defense did anything worth writing home about.
NDSU is at home...a big advantage for their offense since it will not have to operate with the noise. NDSU had 9 penalties in Grizzyworld...NDSU is not going to hit that number in the dome. Without the False Starts, NDSU can run the ball more often.
I'm rooting for the Teddy Bears, but I think NDSU will win.
