Don't know if there are any Jacks fans here, but just in case...

They had better be getting Mariani on a plane to bring the flag out for the team.

Maybe the Griz can play a game that has nothing to do with a Dakota in some distant, idyllic future. :|

Do you guys think you've improved that much now that gus is back (plus some general improvement as the season went on), or that you've just played two of the worst defenses in the FCS since he's been back and that makes the last 2 games deceiving? Honest question, not Cat/Griz smack.

I think you're better now that he's back, but still not a dominant team that will make a run in the playoffs. Much improved, but not there yet. But it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong (plus any given Saturday).

Sadly, I've thought this since BEFORE the MSU game...Griz Nation lulled into a false sense of security by blowing out two significantly below average defenses.

True, but the defense also did a pretty damn good job of holding two way above average offenses in check.

I wouldn't call this team "dominant" by any means, but I think Stitt is right in saying they can hang with any team left in the field.

This is probably just me but it sure seems like we took our foot off the gas way to much in both of the last 2 games. I think we are better with Gus and we are playing better. I also think that half the battle is getting back to a mind set of feeling like you can win and we may be getting closer to feeling that way again. I am optimistic but also feel like we have a lot more work to do. :thumb:

I also think Stitt is right when he said: " if we are healthy at the end of the season we have a shot and we're healthy going into the playoffs." I honestly think we are playing are best football at the moment. We have a chance to make a run.

After two straight quality starts after coming off a leg injury, can Brady Gustafson play well against a good defense? The plus side is that he should have a chance to get used to it because South Dakota State's pass rush is easily their biggest defensive weakness. Ultimately, I like the Griz to win for 3 reasons:

1) Good momentum
2) They're at home
3) Montana already showed a couple weeks ago they can deal with a team that has one really good WR

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- South Dakota St.

Running Backs - South Dakota St.

        Receivers/TEs - Montana

        Offensive Line - (push)

        Defensive Line - Montana

        Linebackers --- (push)

        Secondary ---- South Dakota St.

        Kicking ------ (push)

        Punting ------ Montana

        Return Teams - (push)

        Kickoffs ------ Montana

        • South Dakota St. 20-30 Montana

Two questions:

a) Their O-line is that bad?
b) Their linebackers are that good?

Their O-Line isn't good, no. They've allowed the same number of sacks, but on noticeably fewer pass attempts. SDSU's slight SoS advantage keeps it a push and not a UM advantage, though.

Montana's starting 3 LBs are a little better, but SDSU seems to have more depth. Only 6 Griz linebackers have recorded any stats at all this year. Also, Kose & Gamboa's statistical production is noticeably down from last year.

That's cause KVA has been hogging all the tackles. :thumb:

Somewhere in-between

I wouldn't be surprised by a win or a loss

We're you ever worried? Stitt shut it down so NDSU couldn't get deep looks into our playbook. Cheating bastiges.

You haven't been watching the Griz very long if you think that was their worst half ever. ;)

The defense played great and the O executed the 4:00 offense to perfection at the end, at least.

Putting up 24 and giving up 0 in the first half is great. Putting up 0 and giving up 17 in the second is terrible.
